I watch as everyone, including Yana and Henry, get food together for the pups first, falling into easy conversation about what each pup will and won’t eat. It’s the second time I’ve seen Henry interacting with the Hill family as if he was just one of them. I guess after all these years, he is.

“You okay?” he asks, kissing the side of my head again.

“Yeah. This is nice.”

“Unlike some people, family is very important to us. Henry has been a part of our family since before I was born,” Connor says. “Yana may be my sister, but if you’ve been to Yorick and Quirin’s packs, you know that my siblings come and go depending on what’s going on in their lives or our parents’ lives.”

“Yeah, it’s greeeeat. As if having one father wasn’t enough. Connor went from overbearing older brother and Alpha to a second father figure,” Yana grumbles.

“Don’t pretend like you don’t love me,” Connor says, completely unperturbed.

“Wendy says the same thing, but she’s lucky enough to be going to the Academy in a few months. I have still have two years of this,” Yana says.

“How is Wendy? I haven’t seen her in forever,” Henry asks.”Still dating that Hacker kid,” Connor grumbles. “She’s pretty excited about going to the Academy next year.”

I have to fight my smile. I’m pretty sure that Connor and ‘ that Hacker kid’, are about the same age.

“I’m happy for her and if Yorick is still there, he can keep an eye on her,” Henry says.

“Mom and Dad might be there too. You know the Council is practically begging mom to come run a new state-of-the

-art medical center at the Academy, right?” Connor asks.

“Yes,” I say, just as Henry says, “No.”

How did you know?” he asks me.

“How did you NOT know?” I ask him.

“I’ve been a little distracted, I guess,” he says. “But I’m getting back on track now,” he says, kissing me again. I’m not sure if he just wants to touch me, or if he’s needing the connection after almost losing his shit before.

“There’s also that rumor about the position opening up on the Council and that they’re looking at Alpha Warren to take it,” I say.

“You know about that too?” Connor asks.

“Well, I go to the Academy. I’m competing for a position on the Alpha Squad which is run by the Council. I know Hacker, and I know Yorick and Cyra. So yeah, I’m pretty much in the know about what’s going on at the Counciland the Academy these days,” I tell him.

“Is that still your plan, Piper? To compete for a position on the Alpha Squad?” Madison asks, looking from me to Henry.

“We haven’t had a lot of time to discuss it. I wanted her to get to know the pack and, of course, they fell in love with her. I also wanted to give her wolf, Fallon, time to run with Tyrus and see the pack lands,” Henry says, making Yana snort.

“Yeah, ‘see the pack lands’,” she says sarcastically, making air quotes. “Dad takes mom to ‘see the pack lands’ all the time. Connor’s just as bad and Quirin’s even worse!”

I don’t miss the look between Madison and Connor when Yana calls them out. I wonder if Madison is pregnant again and if she is, I wonder if Kennedy and Quirin are too? What is with these rabbits?

Henry reaches his arm around me and musses Yana’s hair just like Connor did earlier.

“Henry!” she grumbles, pushing his hand away and running her fingers through her hair to straighten it out again.

“That’s what you get for calling me out, kiddo,” he says.

Connor laughs, while wiping mashed potatoes off one of the younger twins’ hands.

“Of course, we might have had more time to talk if Justinehadn’t stopped by unannounced,” Henry says.

Connor turns the full force of his Alpha gaze on Henry. ” And what did Justine want?” I’m surprised how icy his tone is. I’m guessing he, like everyone else, knows that Henry has always wanted to find his fated mate, to find me.

“To tell me she’s pregnant with my child,” he says, his tone just as icy.

“That SNAKE!” Yana growls.

I smile at Yana, then look at Henry. “See Henry, even Yana knows.”

“You called Kennedy or Mom right away, right?” Connor asks.

“Not right away. I had my pack doctor confirm she was pregnant, then I sent her off, telling her I wanted a DNA test to prove paternity.”
