The women hug for a long time.

While they do, I walk over to Quirin. “Don’t growl at my mate.”

“Don’t growl at me,” he says. “She underestimated me once before. I don’t appreciate her doing it again.”

When they finally release each other, both wiping their eyes again, I pull out my phone. I find Wendy’s number and open my arm when Piper turns back to us. She walks into my embrace, and I wrap my arm around her as I call Wendy, putting the call on speaker.

“Henry? Is everything okay? Yorrie said you and Piper had something come up and you won’t be here this weekend.

I’m assuming this is about what we found?” she whispers the last part.

“It is. Do you happen to be with Hacker?”

I can almost see her look up at Hacker.

“Yes, I’m here,” Hacker says.

“We need a private conversation with the two of you, | say.-

“Who is ‘we’?” Hacker asks.”Piper, Quirin, and me.”

I hear Hacker asking Wendy where there’s a private place for us to meet.

“Yorrie, can we use your office for a few minutes?” Wendy calls out.

“Define ‘use my office?” I hear Yorick ask.

“For a phone call, Yorrie,” Wendy says petulantly. “As if I’d use it for something like that. “Eww, it already smells like mom and dad in there.”

I snort, knowing that she’s probably telling the truth. I look at Piper. Next time she’s in my pack, I need to make my office smell like the two of us too.

She leans against me, smiling, and I know she’s on board with that idea. I kiss the top of her head while we wait for them to get to Yorick’s office.

“Okay, Henry, we’re here. Hi, Quirin. Hi, Piper.”

“Hey, Wendy. Hi, Hacker,” Piper says.

Quirin says hello and then we lay it out for them.

“Holy Mother Moon Goddess,” Wendy whispers.

Hacker doesn’t say anything.

“What are you thinking?” Wendy asks him.

“We’ll need Tracker for sure. If this involves murder, I willwant to include Hijack as well. Our work will need to be airtight and the noose around those two assholes so tight they can’t possibly get away. We will need to involve the Council and Vivienne will have to testify.”

Piper looks at me, her face etched with concern.

“She’ll be ready when the time comes,” Quirin says.

“When are you returning to the Academy, Piper?” Hacker asks.

“Sunday night.”

“I’Il set up a meeting with the team. Alpha Henry, if you can attend, that would be helpful, but if not, we’ll get what we need from Piper.”
