I’m exhausted by the time we get back to my room. As much as I want another round, or ten, with my mate, curling up with my head on this chest and his arms wrapped around me feels just as good. I’m asleep quickly and still deeply asleep when I hear my phone buzzing with. a text message.

Henry grunts and reaches out to the nightstand, grabbing both our phones. He hands me mine and I blink at the light from my phone, waiting for my eyes to adjust before reading the text.

Hacker: Alpha Glenn and Alpha Grady have been taken into custody. Alpha Gage is Alpha now.

Since I see it’s a group text with Henry on it as well, I reach behind me and put the phone on the nightstand, before snuggling against his chest. He reaches out to put his phone beside mine, then wraps his arm around me.

“Are you okay?” he asks.

“Yeah. I feel better knowing that Vivienne is safe.”

“I feel better knowing YOU are safe. Someone was showing an interest in you and I promise you, if anyone tries to take you from me, I’ll kill them. I don’t care who gets hurt, I don’t care who sees me, I don’t care if I have to face the wrath of the Council, I don’t care if I have to getQuirin, Connor, Warren, Yorick, and Cyra involved, no one takes you from me.”

I grin, smiling up at my mate. “I love it when you get all possessive.”

He growls and rolls my onto my back, settling himself between my thighs. “I’ll show you possessive.”

He kisses me, making me whimper when I feel his hard length at my entrance but he refuses to slide inside me yet.

He’s just begun kissing his way down my neck when my phone rings.

He lifts his head. “It’s you. You’d better take it,” he growls, crawling off me.

“It’s Gage,” I say, sitting up quickly and answering. “Gage?

Are you okay?”

“How dare you, Piper?”

Weit, guess I was right about Gage being just like dad and Grady.

“How dare I what, Gage?”

“The Council was here! They arrested Dad and Alpha Grady!”

“Well then, I guess they did something illegal.””What lies did you tell them, Piper, huh? I know it was you.

They were trying to get you home, trying to help you, and this is how you repay them? You’re a fucking bitch!” he yells.

Henry holds out his hand, silently asking me for the phone, but I’m done listening to my family treat me like this.

“Now you listen here, you little shit. Dad and Grady have done so many illegal things that they will be lucky if they don’t die in prison. And believe me when I tell you that if I find out you were complicit in anything, and I mean ANYTHING that they were doing, I won’t hesitate to bring you down along with them. Don’t fuck with me, little brother. I am DONE listening to the men in this family act like they have all the control. News flash, you don’t!

You’re just a bunch of arrogant assholes who are about to face the consequences of your actions.”

“Don’t ever come back to this pack again, Piper. If you so much as step foot on these pack lands, I’ll have you killed for trespassing.”

“Oh, Gage, I’d like to see you try. I know every one of those warriors. I know their strengths, and I know their weaknesses. And I sure as fuck know I could take you out with no problem. But besides that, while you, Grady, and Dad have all been sitting around, patting yourselves on the back because you born as Alphas and haven’t had to work for a fucking thing in your entire life, I’ve become an elite killing machine. I have friends who are elite killingmachines. I’m guessing you got to meet Raptor and Javelin tonight. They are only two of the elite killing machines I know. I have friends who are in powerful packs who wouldn’t hesitate to decimate your pack if you ever dare to threaten me again. So, take this as your warning, Gage. Don’t fuck with me, and don’t you dare to ever threaten me again,” I snarl before ending the call.

am fuming, furious that Gage called me to threaten me like he has any power over me at all.

“Do you know how much I want you right now?” Henry says, using the same words I used on him earlier.

I turn and look at him, my lips twitching despite my anger.

“That was so fucking hot,” he growls.

I leap at him, my mouth slamming against his as we once again desperately claw, bite, and fuck each other until we’ve both burned off all our furious energy.

Later, as we lay panting beside each other in bed, Henry kisses my sweaty forehead. “I don’t know if this is a positive outlet for our anger or not, but it’s fucking hot as hell. You’re hot as hell,” he says, making me laugh.

“Oh, goddess, I love you, Henry.”
