Chapter 28
Mia couldn’t wait anymore; she had to find Alex, maybe talk to him. She just wanted to talk to him. She told Emily that she wanted to get some fresh air, and Emily told her to come back quickly.
Mia quickly walked towards the corridor, her heart racing with anticipation. She didn’t know where to go, but she was determined to find Alex. She mistakenly opened a room where a stripper was stripping for a man, and she apologized profusely as she ran out.
She saw a girl and quickly asked for directions to Phantom A’s dressing room. The girl stared at her first before directing her. Mia thanked her and walked towards where the girl had directed her.
She rounded another corner and looked inside the room. Her heart dropped as she saw Zoe there. Were they back together? Was her first thought.
Just then they glance towards her.
Zoe looked almost pleased to see her, but Alex, on the other hand, stared at her with a bored expression.
Her mind drifts to her last encounter with Zoe at Casa lounge.
“Oh, hi,” Zoe said, smiling. “I just wanted to congratulate my ex-boyfriend. He’s all yours, Turner. Have fun, kids.”
She walked out of the door, leaving Mia alone with Alex.
Mia took a deep breath and walked inside.
“What are you doing here?” Alex asked, his voice low and rough.
“I uh- my uh co- Emily-”
Mia stammered, trying to explain, but Alex’s hard stare was making her feel like a fool. She had totally forgotten how to speak.
She saw the cut on his forehead and quickly bent down and reached out to touch it.
Alex stared at her, his eyes locked on hers, as he held her hand stopping her from touching it.
They stared at each other, so close that Mia could feel his breath on her skin. Please kiss me, she begged in her head, but Alex didn’t even move.
Alex dropped her hand, standing up. “Still haven’t answered my question. What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice firm.
Before Mia could stammer out any words, one of Alex’s friends came in. “Are we still going to the club from here?” he asked.
“Yes, let me get cleaned up,” Alex said.
Then Alex’s friend looked at Mia, tilting his head. “Aren’t you the Turner that serves at Casa?”
Mia nodded, feeling a sense of unease.
“Don’t tell me you’ve joined your sisters in the servicing work here. Casa isn’t paying enough? You know I have a vacant maid spot in my house; I wouldn’t mind tasting a different Turner,” Alex’s friend said in one breath.
Mia felt nothing but disgust. She didn’t know what to say. The corner of her eye stung as she felt tears welling up.

Leave her alone, Lucas,” Alex said, his voice firm.
“What? I was just-” Lucas tried to say, but Alex cut him off.
“Lucas, get lost,” Alex said, his eyes flashing with disapproval.
Lucas stared at Mia, then back at Alex. “Are you fucking a Turner?” Lucas asked, looking confused.
“None of your business, Lucas. Get lost,” Alex said, his voice cold.
Lucas stared at Alex, then turned and walked out. Mia looked back at Alex, who was looking at her.
“You shouldn’t be in this place. Get a cab and go home. I can’t drop you; I’m going to a club,” Alex said, his voice firm.
Mia felt a pang of disappointment, but she didn’t want to leave. She wanted to be with Alex, to talk to him.
“I want to come with you,” Mia said, her voice barely above a whisper.
