IRIS.
“What do you mean you want your wolf back?” He asked, his forehead creasing as he lowered me to the floor.
If there was any trance or magic between us, it had already broken, and I had no idea if I should regret telling him about it. But I really wanted my wolf back because I believed it was the only way he would recognize me as his mate.
“I don’t have a wolf,” I spoke in almost a mumble.
“I know that. I don’t sense her. So you want her to come out? It takes time for some wolves to come out. Especially the condition you were in with Constantine, I…”
I shook my head, and it made him stop talking. “I want her back...” I said this a bit louder than before.
“I’m not understanding...”
“I have a wolf, Alpha. My wolf emerged when I turned 18, but she died a few days later.”
“How does a fucking wolf die?” He asked almost immediately.
“I had a high fever, and my father said my wolf wasn’t strong enough to survive.”
“You said you got her at 18? If she came out at 18, then it means she was fucking strong and wouldn’t die that easily.”
“I’m not lying, Alpha. I have a wolf...”
“I didn’t say you were. Did you get checked after she died?”
I shook my head. “It was around the same time you acknowledged Felicity as your mate.” I couldn’t help the bitterness in my voice.
His eyebrows raised. “So it was my fault your whole family got distracted and ignored you?”
“I didn’t say that...”
“I will have someone check you.” He let out a breath.
I was contemplating whether I should continue and tell him about scenting my mate, but I didn’t want to confuse him.
I felt warm hands cupping my cheeks, snapping me from my thoughts. “You’re so fucking beautiful, Iris.”
Despite my heart fluttering, I was more concerned about my wolf and wanted to make sure he would help me. “Alpha, you will help me with my wolf, right?” I asked, biting my bottom lip as my eyes stared directly at his.
“Yes. I will help you find answers.” He replied, but his eyes were stuck on my lips.
“Thank you, Alpha. I will do whatever you ask of me in exchange. I just want her back.”
“As much as I would rather not say I will ask for something, I will hold on to that.” He paused and leaned his hand on the wall behind me, just beside my head. “Because I need you to do something for me.”
“What is it?”
