Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 131

Sophia slouched back in her chair, watching as Emily nearly retched. Her voice was icy. Swallow it. Don’t you dare spit it out, or you’ll be sorry.”

Emily looked helplessly at Lucas, but he just awkwardly looked away, silentno way he was getting involved. with Sophia holding that cleaver.

Left with no alternative, Emily choked the stuff down, hating every second of it.

Since that mess on the table wasn’t fit to eat, Tessa ended up making Sophia some pasta.

Once Sophia was full, she picked up the cleaver and went upstairs.

Sophia had already swapped out the master bedroom door for a heavyduty security one, and Lucas hadn’t bothered having it removed.

Once back in the master bedroom, Sophia’s phone started ringing.

Sophia glanced at the screen, a little surprised, then tapped to answer.

Hi, Mr. Sterling,she said.

Richard’s voice was low and steady. Are you alright?

Sophia blinked in surpriseshe hadn’t expected the first thing out of his mouth to be genuine concern for her.

A rush of warmth filled her chest. Yeah, I’m fine.

Did he hurt you?Richard finally asked, his voice low and hesitant. Honestly, he couldn’t even figure out why he had called, or why he cared enough to ask such a personal question.

Sophia and Lucas were still officially married. No matter how much drama went down, there was always that slim chance they might end up back together.

Just the thought of them getting close again made Richard grit his teeth with frustration.

He thought that Sophia deserved someone better, just like him.

Sophia gave a sly smile, fingers tracing the cleaver’s handle. Nope, not at all. Honestly, it’s them who should be afraid of me right now.”

She had already figured out how to deal with them.

Richard pursed his lips together; his tone was gentle yet insistent. Don’t let yourself get hurt.”

Sophia walked to the floortoceiling window and looked out at the trees. I won’t. Not anymore.”

Never again would she let anyone snap her ribs and leave her barely alive, crawling to Richard for help.

This time, she decided that if anyone even tried to hurt her, she would drag them down with her.

Richard was also standing by his floortoceiling window, gazing out. Do you need me to help you?he asked, his voice low and steady.

Sophia paused for a moment, then shook her head. No, Mr. Sterling. I can handle this myself.

They weren’t family, and Sophia thought that if she got him involved, it would only put his reputation at risk.

She just hoped they could keep things strictly platonicso that whenever they met, things would always stay simple.

Richard’s throat stung, and he thought, Why did she refuse so quickly? Was it to avoid owing me a favor, or to keep herself detached from me?

After a long, heavy silence, Richard finally said, Alright.”

Neither of them spoke. Sophia couldn’t think of a single thing to say, and the silence between them grew so thick.

Take care, Mr. Sterling,Sophia said.

Richard took a deep breath, the ache in his chest almost suffocating. You too. Take care.”

Once she hung up the call, Sophia lingered by the floortoceiling window, seeing Emily hauling a suitcase across the yard.

She seemed to be running away.

Sophia turned, slid open the doors to the balcony, leaned against the railing, and made a couple of chirps- the kind one would use to call over a dog.

As soon as Emily glanced her way, Sophia gave her a warm smile. Hey, where do you think you’re going?

Emily’s face was stricken with panic; she was scared that Sophia might come running down with that cleaver and force her back to keep serving her like some unlucky maid.

My parents want me home, so I’m out of here. I wish you and Lucas the best,Emily mumbled nervously.

With that, she tossed her suitcase into the trunk, scrambled into the driver’s seat, started the car, and tore out of Cherry Grove like she was running for her life.

Sophia couldn’t help but smirk, the irony plain in her eyes. She thought Emily would put up with this for

Lucas.

However, it just proved that life mattered more than love.
