Amanda cursed Travis in her heart a thousand times over. That useless jerk! Where was all that talk about protecting her now?

She should’ve known better than to expect anything from him. After getting burned by Leila so many times, she still hadn’t learned her lesson. Honestly, she had no one to blame but herself.

With nowhere left to run, Amanda just gave up and plopped down on the edge of the cliff. She looked at Chad, half-smiling, half-mocking.

“Chad, I don’t remember ever messing with you. So what’s with all the hate? Is this really just about Leila?”

Honestly, she’d never had a real conversation with Chad. He’d always looked at her like she was beneath him, like she wasn’t even worth his time.

Chad scoffed. “You’re right, you never did anything to me. And yeah, I can’t stand you because of Ms. Price. But that’s not all. There’s another reason.”

He fixed her with a cold stare. “Amanda, do you even know who you are? What makes you think you’re good enough for Travis? How dare you try to compete with Ms. Price for Mr. Hill? You’ve lived in London all these years, but has anyone ever respected you? How can you be so shameless, still clinging to him?”

Amanda rolled her eyes. “Seriously, what does any of this have to do with you? Whether I go after Travis or not, that’s between the two of us. None of your business.”

She shot back, “And you keep acting like you’re doing all this for Leila, but you still hurt her. You’re selfish, ungrateful, and honestly just gross. Leila must have had the worst luck in the world to ever help someone like you.”

Trying to reason with a psycho was pointless.

Chad’s expression darkened. “She let me have her, and I’d die for her! After I crossed Travis, I knew there was no turning back. Amanda, you’re not getting out of here alive!”

Chad knew from the moment Travis' lawyers came after him for the money, he was screwed. All he could think about was Leila. He really did love her, in his own twisted way. Amanda had it right—he was despicable, and he knew it.

But before he died, he wanted to get what he wanted. And then, he’d kill Amanda for Leila’s sake. That way, he’d be satisfied. Leila would get what she wanted. And most of all, she’d never forget him.

Amanda’s fingers brushed against a rock. Without thinking, she hurled it straight at Chad.
