Marcus couldn’t help but feel sorry for Amanda. None of this was her fault. She was such a good person. How did she end up tangled with someone like Travis?
Honestly, Travis was lucky to have someone like Amanda love him with that much passion. But for Amanda, loving Travis just seemed like a curse.
The hospital room was quiet and warm. Amanda was resting, hooked up to an IV after the chaos she'd been through. Some color had finally returned to her cheeks, but she was still out cold.
Travis sat by her side in fresh clothes, his gaze fixed on her. There was something distant and unreadable in his eyes, like he was lost in thoughts he’d never share.
Marcus came in to change the IV bag, letting out a heavy sigh.
“Leila’s not doing well either. Don’t you want to check on her?”
Chad hadn’t killed Leila, but he’d hurt her in ways that couldn’t be ignored. Leila was a mess—one minute she was sobbing and calling out for Travis, the next she was fainting or having a meltdown. But Travis stayed right where he was, refusing to leave Amanda’s side.
Now Leila was spiraling, laughing and crying in turns, begging for Travis to come see her. He didn't even look up.
He was drained. Completely.
All that mattered was that Amanda was safe. If anything had happened to her, he’d never have forgiven himself. Today could’ve easily been the worst mistake of his life.
Marcus got it. Travis wasn’t going to see Leila. He just shook his head.
If only Travis had realized this sooner.
Jonah was gone. Travis had already done more than enough to make up for it. The Price family’s business was thriving, and Leila was practically living like royalty. Was it really worth Travis sacrificing the rest of his life for Jonah’s memory?
He could have just walked away.
Marcus just didn’t get Travis sometimes. He wasn’t the sentimental type. He didn’t usually get hung up on right and wrong. So why was he still so tied to Leila and Jonah after all this time?
No matter how much he thought about it, it just didn’t add up.
