Once all the dishes were served, everyone began to eat. Since the elders were present, no one drank any alcohol.

Xavier served Aveline some food, and Rupert, seeing this, gave a slight nod of approval.

Lauren noticed Aveline’s cold expression and the fact that she hadn’t served Xavier any food in return, causing her to frown slightly.

But with the whole family there, she couldn’t say anything to Aveline, so she just held her tongue.

Rupert asked Aveline about the progress of the project design, then mentioned that Xavier had shown him her concept drawings. He said he loved them and was eagerly looking forward to the project’s completion.

Then Rupert said to Collin and Paulina, “Aveline is incredibly talented. Xavier says that once this project is built, it’s sure to capture global attention, and the’s international reputation will soar.”

“Once it’s built, we must come for a visit, have some fun, and stay for a while.”

Collin and Paulina were delighted to hear Aveline being praised, and they looked at her with eyes full of pride.

After dinner, the three elders were tired from the two–to–three–hour drive, so the group went to

the villa to rest.

Aveline had to drive her own car to the villa, so she didn’t ride in her maternal grandparents‘ car.

She got in her car, not knowing that Valentina was clamoring to ride with her, and Mason chimed in that he wanted to as well. So Xavier said:

“Fine, we’ll ride in Auntie’s car.”

Then, without saying a word to Aveline, he opened the rear door and said, “Get in.

Aveline was stunned to see the two children joyfully climbing into her car. She couldn’t scold them, so all she could do was glare at Xavier.

Xavier glanced at her, pretending not to understand her expression, and said to the two children, “Buckle your seatbelts.”

Valentina and Mason chorused, “Okay,” and quickly buckled their seatbelts.

Xavier closed the rear door and got into the passenger seat.

Aveline kept glaring at him. He just smiled, and as he buckled his seatbelt, he said, “Time to drive, Pretty Auntie. Why are you staring at your handsome uncle?”

“You want me to drive instead?”

Aveline couldn’t be bothered to deal with him. She glanced back to see the two kids were settled, then sat up straight and started driving toward Sunset Hills Estate.

Xavier observed Aveline’s driving, noticing she was much steadier behind the wheel than before. It looked like all the long–distance driving she’d been doing lately had paid off.

So he chuckled, “Auntie’s a fast learner. Your driving has gotten so much better.”

Valentina replied from the back seat, “Auntie has always been smart.”

Mason chimed in, “Exactly.”

Xavier smiled at Aveline. “You’ve got two bona fide little suck–ups here.”

Aveline kept her eyes on the road ahead with a neutral expression, ignoring him.

Xavier said, “My older sister, brother–in–law, and my eldest uncle’s family are coming over tomorrow. So tonight, Valentina, Mason, and I are staying at the villa with Collin and Paulina.”

Aveline said coolly, “Not happening.”

Xavier laughed. “Why not? I already spoke to Collin and Paulina. They’d be delighted to have us.”

Aveline gritted her teeth. “Your family is huge. So you buy another villa, one that’s supposed to be for me, but your family still moves in? How is that a gift for me?”

The words were barely out of her mouth when Mason asked, “Aunt Aveline, can’t Valentina and I live in your villa? Why not?”

Mason’s question wasn’t surprising. To him, Aveline was his aunt, which made them family. Why wouldn’t she let him, Valentina, and even his uncle live in her villa?

Just then, Valentina sighed and said, “It’s because Aunt Aveline wants to divorce Uncle Xavier.”

Mason gasped. “So it’s true. Uncle Xavier and Aunt Aveline are getting a divorce.”
