**A Divorce 759**
Xavier took a deep breath, letting the air fill his lungs before he finally opened his eyes. “You have a real talent for getting under my skin, you know that? Somehow, you’ve managed to ignite my anger, yet my heart still clings to you fiercely.”
Aveline’s lips twisted into a mocking smirk, her eyes glinting with a mix of amusement and disdain. “Ilah. Your love is like a whirlwind, always swirling in different directions. Don’t you ever tire of it?”
Xavier’s gaze was piercing, his dark eyes holding a depth of emotion that was hard to ignore. “My love for you has always remained steadfast, right here with you.”
Aveline scoffed, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Xavier, no matter how you try to convince me, the truth remains—your affection is like a passing storm, unpredictable and fleeting.”
“It’s not as if your treatment of me is driving me to my grave. If I truly wanted to leave you, I would have done it ages ago,” she shot back, crossing her arms defiantly.
Xavier’s voice was firm, almost pleading. “You’re not foolish, Aveline. Do you honestly believe that if my love were absent, I would have proposed to you and walked down the aisle, all while thinking you deceived me?”
With a cold, calculated response, Aveline replied, “If your love were an illegitimate daughter, you, as the CEO of your empire, would have to cast her aside for a more respectable union.”
A wave of helplessness crashed over Xavier, leaving him momentarily speechless. In a desperate attempt to bridge the growing chasm between them, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer. “Aveline, just accept it. I will never divorce you.”
“Baby, your heart is like stone, and your stubbornness is unmatched,” she retorted, her voice tinged with frustration.
“Aveline, I can’t treat you the way I used to. If you don’t want to face disappointment later, perhaps it’s best to let go now,” she warned, her eyes narrowing.
“You don’t need to be kind to me. I’ll take care of you, I promise,” he said, his voice softening.
Aveline laughed bitterly, “Ha, that’s a laugh. In time, the pain will catch up with you, and you’ll want to end it all. I’ve been there, I know how it feels.”
Xavier’s heart ached at her words, guilt washing over him like a cold tide. “I’m sorry, baby. I’m truly sorry. I was wrong. I’m such an idiot.”
He buried his face in the curve of Aveline’s neck, seeking solace in her warmth. But a moment later, Aveline felt something cool against her skin, as if he was weeping.
She froze, her heart racing, before steeling herself and gently pushing him away. “That’s enough, Xavier. Let me go.”
With a heavy sigh, Xavier raised his hand and tenderly brushed his fingers through her hair, lingering for a moment before stepping back. He turned, opened the door without looking back, and walked out, leaving Aveline in stunned silence.
For a heartbeat, she stood there, her hand instinctively reaching up to touch the spot on her neck where his tears had fallen. Sure enough, she felt the dampness there.
Her lips pressed into a thin line. If Xavier had truly cried, what did a few tears matter? She had shed so many more in the past, hadn’t she?

The readers' comments on the novel: Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier)
When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
