Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 778

**Title: A Divorce**

With a weary sigh, Aveline began to shut the door, yearning for the comfort of her bed and the sweet embrace of sleep.

But Xavier, quick on his feet, thrust his hand against the door, halting her retreat. “Are you really going to ignore the chance to see Josephine make a complete fool of herself?”

Aveline’s mind raced. She was well aware that there was nothing romantic brewing between Xavier and Josephine, yet he had a peculiar way of bringing her up to provoke him. Tonight, it seemed, Xavier was hell-bent on making Josephine pay for whatever imagined slight had stirred his ire. And perhaps, in doing so, he hoped to reveal Josephine’s true colors to Leona, who had a tendency to defend her without question.

Aveline was utterly exhausted, her eyelids heavy with fatigue, but the thought of witnessing Josephine’s humiliation stirred something within her. A flicker of curiosity ignited; she wanted to see not only Josephine’s downfall but also the look of embarrassment on Leona’s face when she realized the truth about her friend.

Seeing Aveline’s hesitation, Xavier seized the moment, pulling her back into the dimly lit hallway. “Get dressed. Slip on your shoes. We’re going out.”

Aveline shook off his grip, a defiant spark in her eyes. She grabbed a jacket from the nearby hook and hurriedly slipped into her shoes, her mind still swirling with thoughts of the impending drama.

As they stepped outside into the cool night air, Xavier casually remarked, “If things spiral out of control, we can always claim we couldn’t sleep and just happened to be taking a stroll.”

Aveline shot him a sidelong glance, skepticism etched on her features. “You had someone tailing Marcus, didn’t you?”

“Not Marcus,” he replied, a hint of mischief in his voice. “I had someone keeping an eye on Josephine.”

Aveline couldn’t help but smirk at his defensiveness. “So, you’re spying on her now? What a noble pursuit.”

Xavier’s patience wore thin as he snapped back, “Can you stop jumping to conclusions? You know I’m innocent in all of this. So why the judgmental look?”

“Do I need your permission for my expressions? If you can’t handle it, perhaps you should look away. Just keep your distance from me,” she retorted coolly, her tone sharp.

Xavier chuckled, reaching for her hand, but Aveline swiftly batted it away. “Without you, I’m like a fish out of water. I’d wither away,” he quipped, his voice playful yet earnest.

As they approached the imposing iron gate, Amy stood nearby, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she avoided their gaze, her eyes fixed on the ground.

Xavier turned to her, curiosity lacing his tone. “What’s the situation with those two?”

As she pulled the door shut behind her, Amy replied, “They’re in a heated argument. Our people are secretly capturing it all on camera.”

“Arguing? About what?” Xavier pressed, his interest piqued.

“Apparently, Alex promised Josephine he’d help Jacob, but he hasn’t followed through. Now, Josephine’s demanding that Alex pay off Jacob’s debts,” she explained.
