Chapter 86
Ashley put away her phone, picked up her water, and returned to the study.
They worked throughout the day. In the evening. Tim stretched, saying to Burke, “Professor, let’s go out for dinner. My treat!”
Burke didn’t even look at him.”I have plans this evening.”
Ashley and Tim exchanged surprised glances.
“I have dinner with Chase.”
Tim glanced at Ashley, who was calmly drinking her water.
Burke grabbed his keys, heading out. “Lock up when you leave. It won’t take long.”
Yes, Professor.”
Meanwhile…
Sam, Chase, Tanya, Zark, and Betty had a wonderful time skiing. Exiting the ski resort, Sam excitedly said, “Daddy, I want seafood!”
Chase replied, Tanya and I have something to do tonight. We can’t have dinner with you. The driver is waiting in the parking lot. Tell the chef what yo want when you get home.”
Sam’s smile vanished.”What? Why can’t I come with you?”
Chase gently pinched his cheek. “It’s important.”
“But…” He pouted, turning to Tanya, clinging to her.”Aunt Tanya…”
Hearing that it was important, Tanya’s heart fluttered. She bent down, hugging Sam.”It’s something very important to me. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, and I don’t want anything to go wrong. Can you understand, sweetheart?”
Sam, though still unhappy, nodded obediently.”I understand. But Aunt Tanya, you have to make it up to me next week. Take me out for something
delicious!”
Definitely, Tanya promised, smiling at Chase.
Zark watched silently. Betty took Sam’s hand.”If possible, let’s have dinner together next week, too.”
Sam and Betty had become good friends.”Okay!” he agreed.
After seeing Sam and the others off, Chase and Tanya got into their car and headed to the restaurant. A few minutes after they arrived, Burke walked i
Mr. Burke, Chase and Tanya rose to greet him.
Burke showed no surprise at seeing Tanya. She introduced herself again, politely.”Mr. Burke, hello, I’m Tanya Mond. We met at the tech expo…”
“I know,” Burke said, his expression flat. He offered a brief handshake.
After Burke sat down, Tanya settled beside him.”I greatly admire your work. I’ve always hoped to meet you and discuss Al with you in person.”
“Mm-hmm,” he replied.
Chase’s phone buzzed. He excused himself.”I’ll take this call. Excuse me.”
Tanya nodded.
Once he left, Tanya picked up the menu.”Mr. Burke, shall we order? We can chat while we eat.”
Burke pushed the menu aside.”No need.”
Before she could react, he said directly, “You want to be my student?”
Tanya was shocked by his bluntness, but she soon calmed down. “Yes. I’m very interested in Al, and I hope to learn from you and improve myself.”
