Tanya stopped typing. Ashley was undeniably beautiful.

She initially assumed Jeffery was interested in Ashley, but remembering the auction incident and his current behavior, she realized she might be wrong.

“Not really,” she replied, her expression neutral.

“Why would you ask that?”

Jeffery glanced at Ashley and Tim.

“She seems quite capable, judging by her interaction with Mr. Reed.”

Tanya said flatly, I’m not sure, but I heard she only had a bachelor’s degree.”

“Only a bachelor’s?”

“Yes.”

That explained it. With inferior qualifications and less charisma, Ashley’s anxiety about losing Tim was understandable. He could understand her fear of losing Tim. But her hostility towards Tanya, stemming from a belief that every other woman was trying to steal her boyfriend, was frankly pathetic. He went from indifference to mild dislike for Ashley.

Tim was having a moment free. He peered at Jeffery and Tanya through the glass. After a few moments, he leaned in to Ashley. “Jeffery likes Tanya?” Ashley, engrossed in data, paused.”Probably.” She was genuinely uninterested. She pulled Tim back to work, discouraging his gossip.

The sooner they finished, the sooner they could leave.

Tim scoffed. His taste is… questionable.” Then, he dropped the subject.

Seeing Tim looking their way, Jeffery assumed he was admiring Tanya. Then, Ashley pulled him away and got angry because of his attention towards Tanya. It all made sense.

Tanya encountered a problem, pausing her work.

She looked towards Tim but saw him and the Speed technicians intently listening to Ashley.

It looked as if Ashley was some kind of technical genius.

She looked away.

Ashley and Tim worked until 5:30 PM. Finally, they were wrapping up. The Vertical and Speed contract was finalized. Gary invited them to rest and have some tea. Seeing Jeffery and the others finish as well, he said, “It’s getting late. How about dinner?”

Jeffery glanced at Tanya. She didn’t notice he was looking at her. She said, “Sorry, Chase is picking me up soon. We have other plans.”

Losing interest, Jeffery replied, “I have plans as well. Maybe next time.” Tanya showed no reaction.

Tim found it increasingly clear that Jeffery was into Tanya. He refused dinner only because she wasn’t coming.

Gary, somewhat embarrassed by their refusals, asked Tim, “Mr. Reed, how about you…”

Tim clinked his teacup against Ashley’s, smirking.”We’re free, aren’t we, Ashley?” His smile subtly mocked Jeffery.

“Mm-hmm, Ashley replied.

Tanya noticed Tim’s kindness towards Ashley. She frowned.

Jeffery and Tanya, though not joining them for dinner, left with Ashley and Tim. Tanya took a call,

Putting down her phone, she said, “Chase will be here soon. I’ll come downstairs with you.”

Downstairs, Chase was waiting. He greeted Jeffery and Tim, glancing at Ashley without speaking.

Tanya stood beside him as he exited his car-the picture of a devoted couple.
