Chapter 93
They quickly left the dance floor.
As they exited, Ashley accidentally saw Benjamin and a handsome young man. She wasn’t familiar with Benjamin, so she looked away and walked outside to take the call. Her voice was subdued. “Professor…”
“Pick me up tomorrow at noon.”
She was taken aback. “What?”
He hung up.
Tim asked, “What did he say?”
“He wants me to pick him up tomorrow.”
“Nothing else? No mention of me?”
Ashley shook her head. Tim checked his phone-Burke hadn’t contacted him.”He’s biased!”
The bar’s lively atmosphere had worked its magic; Ashley was feeling much better. She patted his chest. “If it makes you feel better.”
Not until you pay for tonight.”
“Got it.”
It was a joke. Tim wouldn’t let her pay. Concerned that Burke might find out they were at a bar, he paid the bill before leaving with Ashley.
The next day at noon, Ashley picked up Burke.”Professor, where shall we go?”
He gave her an address.
Thirty minutes later, they arrived at a restaurant. They entered a private room and saw two imposing middle-aged men. They stood as they entered. “You’re here.”
Burke introduced them calmly.”Derek Cooper, David Adler. This my student, Ashley Jones.” ·
Ashley recognized them from news reports-one a high-ranking military official, the other a prominent politician. They were surprisingly cordial, shaking her hand. “We’ve heard so much about you.”
Slightly bewildered, Ashley shook their hands.”The pleasure’s all mine.”
They gestured for her to sit. Derek said, “We’ve known about you for years, hoping Burke would introduce you to us. We’ve been studying your recent system, and we asked to meet you.”
After pleasantries, they discussed systems, chips, energy… Burke silently ate and drank tea, mostly uninvolved.
After an hour, Derek refilled Ashley’s glass, which made her stand up.
He set down the teapot, his gaze penetrating but gentle.”If I’m not mistaken, you’re in your twenties.”
Ashley nodded. Twenty-five.”
“So young David immediately knew what Derek meant. He asked, “Do you have a boyfriend?”
Ashley was stunned. I’m married.” She almost added that she was about to be divorced.
They were clearly surprised. But they were astute observers.
The fleeting emotion in Ashley’s eyes while mentioning her marriage meant something, perhaps a potential divorce.
Thus, they still had a chance.
Countless eligible women sought to enter the two families.
Ordinary ladies couldn’t get in, let alone a divorcee. But Ashley was different.
She was exceptionally talented. Eternal’s technology would make it unstoppable in the next few years, and Burke’s successor might very well be Ashley,
Her future was limitless.
Moreover, her composure and grace were rare in someone so young and successful. They were increasingly impressed.
Burke, finally looking up, gave them a cold stare.

Ashley received a call from Tim as soon as she got home. After knowing what had happened, he said, “Derek and David? I know them.” He added, “By the way, Jeffery is Derek’s son. Derek’s incredibly powerful, but I don’t know what’s wrong with his son. He’s got terrible judgment.”
