Chapter 92
She went to find Cindy. The houses here start at 300 million,” Cindy whispered furiously. “Chase bought a top-of-the-line villa for the Monds. It
cost over 600 million!”
“Mm-hmm.
Cindy watched her face. And… I heard they came here because Tanya’s mother liked it…”
Ashley paused subtly. That explained Vivian’s radiant smile. She composed herself.”I’ll use the restroom.”
“Oh, okay…”
Ashley went to the restroom, clenching her fists. She no longer cared about what others said about Chase and Tanya, but seeing how he was pleasing
Vivian still hurt her…
She heard the staff talking outside. “Mr. Sterling’s girlfriend is gorgeous!”
“Yes, and her mother is classy and elegant! Did you see how much her husband and mother-in-law dote on her? It reminds me of my husband and mother-in-law… I’m so jealous!”
“Exactly! And Mr. Sterling is so nice to his girlfriend. They’re not even married, and he bought her family a 600-million-dollar villa! She’s got all the
luck!”
Ashley emerged ten minutes later. After dinner with Cindy, she felt the urge to visit the nursing home. Remembering Ruby’s condition and the director’s instructions, she parked at the entrance and ultimately went back to Chase’s.
She locked herself in her room and worked. After some time, her phone rang. It was Chase. She ignored it, continuing her work. He called again a few minutes later, then sent her a message: Grandma wants us at her place for dinner.
She didn’t respond. He waited, then Sam’s voice called from the stairs.”Daddy, you’re back!” He ran down and hugged Chase.
Chase nodded. Sam noticed he was typing.”What are you doing, Daddy?”
Your mother won’t answer.”
Sam huffed, turning away. Chase pinched his cheek.”You get mad when I mention mother. Did
your
you upset her?”
“She upset me!”
Chase leaned back, curious.”Oh?”
Sam angrily recounted their conversation.”Mommy promised to take me skiing, but she broke it and said she was busy!”
“She’s busy, so you’re angry? Shouldn’t you be more understanding?”
“You!”
Chase chuckled, ruffling his hair.”Let’s go.”
“Where?”
‘Grandma wants us for dinner.”
Sam grumbled and followed him.
Ashley ordered takeout. Around 7 PM, while she was eating, Emily called. She answered-she could ignore Chase, but not Emily.
‘Ashley, Chase said you were too busy to come. When will you be free?”
Ashley didn’t want to go. Since he’d lied to Emily for her, she said, “I’m really busy these days. Sorry, Grandma.”
Emily didn’t mind.”It’s fine. I just don’t want you to overwork.”
‘I’m fine, Grandma.”
“Good.” Emily said, “Chase will bring you something delicious tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Emily looked at her grandson. Don’t come back next time if Ashley doesn’t come with you.”
Chase raised an eyebrow “Should I leave then?”
Emily was speechless.
After the call, Ashley returned to her work. By 9 PM, feeling refreshed after a mental deep dive into her field, she received a call from Tim.
Want to go out?”
Half an hour later, she arrived at a bar. Tim met her at the entrance.”Drink?”
Ashley sighed. Sure.”
He leaned in, studying her. “Bad day?”
“Much better now.”
Meral
He didn’t press, ordering her a low-alcohol blue cocktail. She sipped it, listening to Tim and his friends chat. Neither of them noticed the observation from the upstairs bar.
