Ashley looked away. The game demanded teamwork. She stood in the middle, rotating the band in sync. Sam, holding onto her shirt, followed her rhythm. He was utterly delighted. Seeing Chase filming them, he laughed, “Daddy!”

Chase stood slightly ahead. Ashley noticed him, but focused on the game. Then, Chase said to Sam,”Don’t look around. Keep up with your mom’s pace.”

When Ashley was filming, she stood still. Chase, however, moved with their progress. The game ended quickly.

Sam ran to Chase.”Daddy, that was so fun! Can we play this again sometime?”

“Sure, Chase agreed.

Ashley retrieved her bag. A message notification sounded from her phone inside. She checked: it was a video from Chase. She didn’t open it, but Sam wanted to see it. Chase gave Sam his phone, then offered Ashley a bottle of water.

After taking a few sips, she heard Chase ask, “What’s the next game?”

She didn’t believe he’d forgotten, given his good memory. But… she looked at the water. She owed him one.

Chase raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Just before the game started, he said, “When you’re filming, follow our movements. Don’t just stand in one place.”
