Chapter 187

Hearing the sound, Chase turned his head.

Ashley got out of the car, silently closing the door before getting her umbrella back from him.

Chase looked down at her feet.”Are you sure?”

It hurt a little, but she could still walk. Ashley didn’t say that, though. She didn’t bother to analyze why he’d been so kind today. He had helped her and

even carried her to his car.

She said flatly, Call me when you’re done with our divorce.”

The implication was clear: unless it was about the divorce, he had no need to contact her.

With that, Ashley raised her umbrella and walked past Chase, leaving him standing there.

Chase watched her go. He let her leave. Their cars were parked relatively close. Only after he saw her safely get into her car did he turn and get into his own. Moments later, his car pulled away from the parking lot.

After Chase left, Jeffery’s car followed suit.

Reporters had been present at the symposium, the meeting, and the subsequent dinner.

Ashley went to the hospital. When she arrived home, it was over 8 PM. She’d just started dinner when news coverage of the symposium began airing. The report showed both her and Chase on screen.

Meanwhile, Tanya and Vivian were watching the same news. Seeing Ashley representing Eternal at such an important government event, both of them

frowned.

Wasn’t it said that Ashley’s relationship with Tim was on the rocks? How could she still represent him at such a significant event?

Tanya felt that since Ashley still meant a lot to Tim, her resume was probably a wasted submission.

Vivian’s frown quickly smoothed out. She gracefully accepted a tonic soup from the maid. “It’s okay,” she said. “Let’s wait and see.”

Ashley was undeniably beautiful. Tim probably couldn’t bear to let her go. Perhaps Ashley was his on-again, off-again girlfriend. Since there were signs of a breakup, there must be something wrong with their relationship. Even if they were still together, it probably wouldn’t last. So, it was only a matter of time before Tanya joined Eternal and patched things up with Tim.

Tanya understood what her mother meant. Her thoughts were much the same. Besides, seeing Ashley and Chase sitting so close during the symposium didn’t affect her. She had complete confidence in herself and Chase.

At that moment, Neal came downstairs.”Oh, Tanya. You’re back!”

“Mm, Tanya replied. “How’s school going?”

Neal was a high school sophomore, and starting that semester, he would be transferring to this city. Chase had already had everything taken of. Because of the difference between textbooks of these two schools, Neal had been diligently working with a tutor to bridge the gaps since the winter vacation.

Neal said casually, “Everything’s fine. You know how good I am.”

Indeed. Both Tanya and Neal were A-students. They never let their parents worry about their grades.

Hearing this, Tanya and Vivian both smiled.

The next day.

Zark and Jeffery arrived at Eternal simultaneously.

Jeffery greeted him,”Mr. Green, what a coincidence.”

Zark nodded.”Indeed.”

Jeffery was about to speak when he saw Ashley and Tim coming out to greet them.

Ashley had left Chase’s car quickly yesterday. Jeffery wasn’t entirely sure what she’d said to Chase. But it was undeniable that it was Chase who had been taking the initiative, whether at the year-end party or yesterday. Ashley, on the other hand, appeared rather cool towards him. This puzzled

Ashley was exceptionally beautiful; men being attracted to her was understandable, but Chase was no ordinary man. Apart from her looks, there was simply nothing she could compare with Tanya. Jeffery couldn’t understand why Chase, Tanya’s boyfriend, would still be interested in Ashley

Ashley noticed Jeffery’s cold, disdainful gaze.

She said coldly, “Mr. Cooper, do you have something to say to me?”

“I don’t think so,” Jeffery said coldly. “We have nothing to talk about.”

Tim and Zark had both seen the news about the symposium. They knew Ashley and Jeffery had met yesterday.
