Chapter 200
Tanya suddenly thought of something and said, “Zark’s company is hiring. They might have a suitable position for her. I’ll ask Zark later.”
Chase smiled. “Sounds great.”
Jane knew who Zark was – Chase’s childhood friend, who also admired Tanya. Whenever Tanya needed help, Zark was always there for her.
Jane, however, wasn’t keen on relying on others. Before she could speak, Yonnie thanked Tanya profusely. That means a lot, Tanya. We appreciate your
help.”
Tanya replied, “We’re family.”
Chase and Tanya didn’t talk about Jane anymore. They sat together, talking in hushed tones, as if they’d never run out of words. It was evident that they had a good rapport.
Seeing this and remembering Ashley shopping alone, Jane asked Catherine, “When… when are they getting divorced?”
Catherine took a moment to understand that “they” referred to Ashley and Chase. She scoffed.”Chase said soon. The hard part is the division of property. He doesn’t want that woman to bother him and Tanya for money in the future, so he’ll finalize the divorce after everything is settled.” That meant Ashley would have a share of Chase’s property. Jane felt relieved. She’d assumed he wouldn’t give Ashley anything in the divorce.
The asset division thing soured Catherine’s mood. Without waiting for Jane to respond, she huffed, “Chase wouldn’t give that bitch a penny if he wasn’t afraid that she would go to his grandmother and ask him not to divorce her!”
Jane mumbled, “…Oh.” She hesitated, then asked, “So, Ashley will get only a small part of the property??”
“It’s a lot, but not that much… This is too good for her. Chase discussed the division with Tanya. It’s just for avoiding future trouble.*
Jane understood that. Given Chase’s wealth, Catherine’s displeasure indicated Ashley would receive a significant sum.
From Catherine’s perspective, it was not a lot compared to Chase’s fortune, roughly equivalent to what he’d spent on Tanya over the years. But it was still a considerable amount.
In Catherine’s mind, the money that should’ve been her family’s was going somewhere else. That was why she became so upset.
Then, Catherine thought of Tanya’s suggestion about Jane working for Zark. She glared at Jane.”Once you start working for Zark, keep an eye on him. Don’t let any other women get close to him, got it?”
Jane knew from Yonnie that Catherine was interested in one of Chase’s friends, an eligible bachelor in the city’s upper circles. But the man seemed uninterested in Catherine.
Jane hesitated. Well… nothing’s confirmed yet. I might not even get the job.”
