Chapter 201
Tanya put down her phone. “He’s probably busy. I’ll call him again later.”
Half an hour later, she tried again. This time, Zark answered.
“Am I interrupting something?”
“No, Zark replied. He’d seen her first call but hadn’t answered.”What’s up?”
Tanya told him what was going on. Zark asked, “Why not Chase’s company?”
Tanya smiled. “Well, Chase’s company isn’t hiring.”
Zark was silent for two seconds.”What’s her name?”
“Jane Bonds.”
‘Got it. Tell her to submit her resume these days.”
Thanks, Zark.”
Before Zark replied, Tanya added, “What are you doing? Have you been busy lately?”
The next second, a soft, pleasant female voice rang out from Zark’s end.
“Zark, who are you talking to?”
“No one, Zark replied coldly, then to Tanya, “I gotta go.”
Mersi
He hung up before Tanya could say anything. His tone turned icy the moment the woman spoke. Clearly, he was annoyed by the interruption. He might have hung up quickly to avoid her hearing too much and misinterpreting his relationship with that woman.
Tanya raised an eyebrow. She put down her phone.”Zark agreed.”
Yonnie was really happy. Thank you, Tanya.”
Catherine smugly said to Jane,”See? I told you.”
Jane paused, looking at Tanya again.
That evening, after dinner, Ashley returned home. While she was about to work, Chase called. She ignored it and turned off her phone.
Ashley didn’t turn it back on until the next morning. Several messages awaited her.
“I need to talk to you.”
“It’s about Grandma’s birthday party,”
I hope you’ll attend.”
Chase hadn’t sent any more messages. Ashley still didn’t respond. While making breakfast, Chase called her again. Ashley frowned, ignoring the call. After two or three calls, he finally stopped.
Ashley went to work. Jeffery happened to be visiting Eternal that day. Tim went to greet him.
At noon, Jeffery persistently invited Tim to have lunch with him, but Tim refused as usual. Jeffery left with his team.
In the parking lot, Jeffery saw Chase leaning against a car. He seemed to be waiting someone. Jeffery greeted him.”Mr. Sterling.”
Chase smiled.”Mr. Cooper, are you here for business?”
“Yes.”
Remembering what had happened between Chase and Ashley before, Jeffery asked him with a neutral expression, “Mr. Sterling, are you here to…”
“See Ashley,” Chase said, glancing up at the Eternal building.”She should be upstairs.”
