Hearing that, Ashley finally understood why Chase had rushed off yesterday-because of Tanya.

She’d known about Chase’s worry for Tanya for a long time and had accepted it.

She also knew Catherine was deliberately saying all this for her to hear.

With a blank stare, Ashley walked past Catherine and the others, heading straight for the elevator.

Only when they saw the floor Ashley pressed did Catherine and Emily realize she was here to see Emily.

They all knew Emily was sick.

Though none of them had visited, they knew she was admitted here.

They knew she was in this hospital, but had no clue which room. They’d even tried sneaking around last night, asking quietly.

Seeing the floor number, Catherine and the others connected the dots: Ashley was visiting Emily.

The Holdens and the Monds hadn’t met Emily yet.

They’d found out her private room number but were careful not to disturb her, so they hadn’t dared show up.

Seeing Ashley casually head to someone they’d been desperate to meet but couldn’t, Vivian and Mary immediately felt uneasy.

Catherine, especially, shot Ashley a furious glare.

With others still in the elevator, Catherine held back her words.

Only after stepping out did she grit her teeth and whisper, “She’s divorcing Chase, yet she still tries to cozy up to his grandma. Shameless.”

Then she added, as if realizing something, “She’s probably getting close to Emily just to badmouth my sister behind her back-to turn Chase’s family against her!”

Vivian and Mary thought the same.

Emily was seriously ill, yet the Sterlings wouldn’t even let Chase bring Tanya to see his grandma. Vivian’s eyes turned cold.

Emily had just finished her check-up and was thrilled to see Ashley arrive.

Ashley chatted with her as she took the flowers she’d brought and arranged them in a vase on the small round table by the window.

After she finished with the flowers, she glanced downstairs and spotted Chase’s figure in the parking lot.

She looked just once, then quickly turned back to Emily, focusing on their talk.

Emily was still weak.

She’d been in the hospital for a while. Though people visited often, she still felt bored.

Seeing Ashley, she pulled her into conversation, a little scattered.

Noticing Emily’s frailty, Ashley stayed longer than planned.

Emily knew Ashley had work. Though she hated to see her go, after half an hour, she said, “Ashley, I won’t keep you. Go to work. But next time you have free time, visit me more, okay?”

Ashley checked the time. It was late. Just as she was about to agree, the door opened.

She turned to look.

It was Chase.

Seeing him, she realized Chase must have been at the hospital for half an hour already.

But he was only just now coming up to see Emily.

Thinking of Tanya downstairs, she understood why.

Just as she was about to look away, Chase spoke to her, “You here?”

Ashley simply hummed in response, then turned back to say goodbye to Emily.

Chase heard her and said, “Leaving so soon?”
