Chapter 380.
Gabriel was also part of this system testing trip.
Tanya hadn’t expected Gabriel to be there. Seeing him, she glanced over in his direction.
Gabriel hadn’t expected her and Chase to be there either.
Noticing her gaze, he subtly turned his face away.
Seeing his cold demeanor, Tanya chuckled softly.
Her presence there was actually for her own business trip out of town; she wasn’t going with Chase to Jorvik.
She told Chase, It’s almost time, I’m heading out.
Chase replied, I’ll walk you over.
Hearing Chase, Tanya just smiled. No worries, it’s just a few steps. You do your thing. I’ll call you as soon as I land.
Chase nodded. Sounds good.
Seeing that, some folks from Sterling Corp and Eternal couldn’t help but quietly remark on how solid Chase and Tanya’s relationship was.
Tim scoffed, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips.
Ashley watched it all unfold, her face completely unreadable.
Tanya said goodbye to the other Sterling Corp employees before turning to leave.
She didn’t even spare Ashley or Tim a glance as she walked away.
On the plane, Ashley and Chase’s seats were just an aisle apart.
Menu
Tim still had some stuff to discuss with Mr. Harrison from Sterling Corp’s tech department. Seeing how close their seats were, he asked, You guys okay
with this
Ashley shook her head. It’s fine.
Gabriel was seated right next to Ashley.
After settling in, he turned his head and quietly started chatting with Ashley. As he leaned over, his gaze inevitably fell on Chase.
Chase was glued to his phone, constantly scrolling. Between him and Ashley, there was zero interaction from takeoff to landing. Not a word. Sometimes, when he caught Ashley and Gabriel huddled together, whispering, he’d spare them a quick glance, then immediately look away.
After they landed in Jorvik, they plunged straight into work that same afternoon.
They’d arrived in Jorvik pretty late, but their schedule was tight, so by the time they wrapped things up, it was already past 8 PM.
Today’s tasks hadn’t gone smoothly at all. After Ashley got back to the hotel, she kept working in her room. It wasn’t until past II PM that she finally sorted some things out and headed into the bathroom for a shower.
She’d just finished showering when the doorbell rang.
She glanced at the display screen inside her room. When she saw who was at the door, the hand she was using to towel-dry her hair paused ever so slightly.
After a moment’s hesitation, she still went to open the door. What’s up
Ashley hadn’t even had time to fully dry her hair. Her long locks, half-tied up, were still dripping, water beads tracing a path down her fair, slender neck and disappearing under her collar.
Chase glanced at her, then pulled his gaze away. It’s Sam. He called.
Chase said, holding out his phone to her.
Ashley took his phone, staying put as she answered. Sam
Mom, I’m buying you a gift! I don’t know what you like, and I couldn’t reach you…
