Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 417

Chapter 395.

In the afternoon, Ashley had just gotten back from Sterling Corp when her phone suddenly rang.

It was Lucy Jones’s psychiatrist calling. He said Lucy seemed to have a brief moment of lucidity that afternoon, but shortly after, her mental state plunged into a breakdown unlike anything seen in years.

Ashley’s face paled. She rushed to the hospital immediately. “How? What happened?”

“We’ve looked into it thoroughly. So far, we haven’t found anything abnormal.”

But if there was no external trigger, why would Lucy suddenly be like this?

Ashley watched Lucy, sedated and unconscious from her medication, on the monitor. After talking with the doctor for a good while, she turned and headed downstairs, her mind heavy.

When the elevator reached the next floor, the doors opened. Ashley looked up and her eyes met Catherine’s and Mary’s.

Catherine saw Ashley and immediately glared at her, then scoffed, tossing her head back haughtily as she helped Mary into the elevator.

The elevator had other people in it. After getting in, Catherine looked at Ashley’s profile and intentionally said to Mary, “Grandma, my sister isn’t coming home for dinner again tonight. I heard little Sam missed her so much after just a few days, he kept nagging to see her. So tonight, my sister and Chase are eating out.”

Mary chuckled, “Oh, really?”

Ashley knew damn well they were saying all this for her benefit.

Because of Lucy, Ashley was already on edge, worried something might happen to her mom. The moment she heard the news, she immediately suspected them of being the reason for Lucy’s sudden emotional breakdown.

But she’d tried to subtly probe, and from what the doctor said, Lucy hadn’t had any contact with the outside world.

But…

Thinking this, and hearing Catherine and Mary’s pointed comments, Ashley’s eyes turned colder.

If they really tried to mess with her mom

Catherine caught her stare. She just lifted her chin, fearless, a silent challenge: What? You think I’m scared of you?

Just then, the elevator chimed. The doors slid open.
