Chapter 394.
No need, Grandma.” Ashley said. “I have some work to do. I’ll skip dinner.”
Work to do? Ashley just didn’t want to, and felt it was better not to stay here any longer.
Logically, since she and Chase hadn’t officially divorced yet, Ashley was still considered part of the Sterling family. It shouldn’t be like this.

But from Ashley’s perspective, maybe the moment she and Chase decided to divorce, she had already started drawing a line between them in her heart.
Emily understood all of this.
Since Ashley was insistent, she didn’t push it.
She shot Chase a fierce glare.
Chase acted like he didn’t see it, looking at Ashley.”I’ll drive you.”
“No thanks.” Ashley refused. “You’re busy. Just have the driver take me.”
Chase didn’t push it.”Okay.”
Ashley grabbed her bag from her room, ready to leave.
Grandma Emily and Chase both went downstairs to see her off.
Sam only just realized she was leaving and looked heartbroken.”Mom, you’re going back already?”
“Yeah.” Ashley ruffled his hair.”Take good care of yourself, don’t play too much.”
“Got it!” Sam hugged her, refusing to let go.”School starts in a few days. Will you take me on the first day, Mom?”
Ashley paused, then said, “Okay, Mom will pick you up if I’m free.”
Grandma Emily walked Ashley to the car, then glanced back at Chase, who was standing a short distance away watching them. She whispered to Ashley,”Chase was actually supposed to be back at the office today to handle things, but because he was taking care of you, he…”
And everything Chase did today was voluntary. She hadn’t forced him.
Ashley lowered her gaze, her voice flat.”Grandma
“I know, honey.” Emily sighed, patting Ashley’s hand. “I just hate to see you go.”
She wished Ashley and Chase could just stay like this forever. How perfect would that be?
She just felt a pang of regret.
Emily gave Ashley a couple more reminders, and then Ashley turned, got into her car, and drove off,
Ashley saying she had work to do wasn’t exactly a lie.
The partnership between Sterling Corp and Eternal was mostly her responsibility, and she’d fallen behind because she’d been sick.
Tomorrow, she even had a major meeting scheduled at Eternal.
Once Ashley got back to the Jones family home, she rested for half an hour, then fired up her laptop and got straight to work.
Just as she opened her laptop, her phone buzzed.
She glanced at it. It was a message from Chase.
Ashley paused for a beat before tapping it open.
She realized Chase had sent her a file.
Ashley frowned, then clicked on it.
After reading it, she was quiet for several seconds.
It was because the content Chase had sent her was exactly what she needed to do next.
But Chase…
He’d already taken care of it for her.
Even better, it perfectly matched her own plans.
Ashley’s fingers paused above the keyboard. After a good while, she finally replied to Chase:”Thanks.”
