Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6

When I came to, the first thing I felt was a sharp, burning sting.

My eyes fluttered open, vision slowly coming into focus-hospital ceiling, sterile smell… and Lila sitting beside me, holding a syringe

The needle was stabbing into my arm. Over and over.

My pale skin was now riddled with tiny punctures, beads of blood seeping from every spot. It was horrifying.

“Lila’ What the hell are you doing?!” My voice came out hoarse, furious. I tried to yank my arm back, but I was too weak.

She jumped, startled, then quickly put on a wide-eyed innocent act.

Dr. Carter, you’re awake? You always said my IV skills sucked, right? That I could never find a vein on the first try? My residency exam’s coming up.

and I have to pass this part. You need injections anyway, so I thought… maybe I could practice on you. Win-win, right?”

“Are you out of your damn mind?!” I shouted. “You’re supposed to use a dummy! Not a real person!”

Lila pouted, her tone casual-like this was the most reasonable thing in the world.

Dummies don’t feel real. Don’t move, Dr. Carter, I just need to get a feel for it…”

Before I could react, she lifted the syringe again and jabbed it straight into another spot.

A bolt of pain shot through me. Blood gushed out instantly.

That’s enough!”

I snapped. Gathering every ounce of strength I had left, I shoved her off me.

She stumbled back, hitting the bedside table-and the kettle sitting on it toppled.

Boiling water splashed everywhere, drenching her legs.

“AHHH!” Lila screamed, collapsing to the floor, clutching her shins in agony.

The door flew open. Noah burst in, carrying a meal box.

His expression darkened the second he saw the scene.

Lila!” He rushed over, pushing me aside to grab her. She was sobbing, trembling all over.

“What happened?!”

Lila gasped between cries, pointing a shaking finger at me.

“Noah… it hurts so bad… I was just trying to take care of Dr. Carter… but she… she hates me… she pushed me and threw boiling water on me…”

Noah’s face twisted in fury. He turned on me, eyes blazing.

“Ella! She didn’t even complain when you stole her things! Her ankle’s sprained, and she still came here to take care of you! And this is how you repay her? When did you become so damn cruel?!”

I just stared at him. He didn’t doubt her for a second. The disgust in his eyes was enough to crush me.
