Chapter 37

Ethan quickly said, “Nothing.” He asked, ‘Are you done talking?”
Before Tanya answered, someone brought Professor Louis. “Professor Louis, this is Miss Tanya Mond, the algorithm genius I mentioned.”
Professor Louis was the one Tim introduced to Ashley at the banquet. He’d seen Tanya with Tim but he was too plain to catch Tanya’s attention. Tanya didn’t recognize him.
Professor Louis didn’t mention the incident, instead, he greeted Tanya politely. Knowing Louis’s background, Tanya gave a polite smile. Mark greeted
him too.
Tanya and Louis then started talking.
There were a lot of things to talk about.
Mark and Yonnie didn’t know about technology, so they focused on networking. They watched Chase to see his reaction to Ashley.
Chase showed no reaction; he acted like she was a stranger.
Rumors said Ashley forced Chase into marriage by some dirty trick. He disliked her and rarely went home.
The rumors should be true.
The
expo organizers announced the closing ceremony. Tim and Ashley represented Eternal. Seeing Ashley enter the main hall, Tanya and Yonnie were surprised.
Yonnie asked Tanya, Tim values her so much?” They knew he cared for Ashley, but not to this extent. Ashley was married with a child. Tim was eligible; he could easily find someone better. Why did he care so much for Ashley?
Tanya said nothing. The main hall had limited seating and their company didn’t have exhibits. Usually they would sit at the back, but Chase gave Tanya a front-row seat. Mark laughed. Chase gave Tanya a front-row seat when Ashley was around…
Yonnie laughed, too.”Burke will give a speech; front-row seats increase the chance to talk to him.”
Tanya knew this. Yonnie was really unhappy that Ashley and Tim were in the front middle, but she cheered up when she saw Tanya’s seat. Tanya caught up with Chase and walked past Ashley without looking at her. Ashley didn’t mind; nor did Tim.
Someone commented, “Mr. Burke is sitting in the front row; it’s great to be able to talk to him.”
Ashley and Tim exchanged glances. Tim whispered, “Don’t worry, even if she meets the professor, she won’t impress him.” He knew Tanya’s level.
Ashley said, “What if she’s been hiding her strength?”
Tim was speechless. That was possible, but he didn’t think Tanya would do that.
The host announced, Let’s welcome Mr. Burke!”
Mr. Burke, a world-renowned expert, was surprisingly young – only in his early forties. He was tall and slender, wearing rimless glasses. He calmly walked onto the stage to thunderous applause. He surveyed the audience; the hall fell silent.
He began, Thank you for the invitation…” He briefly summarized and praised the exhibits, then answered some questions. Many wanted to ask questions, but time was limited.
After half an hour, he left the stage.
He went to his pre-arranged seat in the front row. The executives stood to greet him, arousing envy among those in the back rows, especially the tech
staff.
Chase was seated beside him. He stood when Burke approached. Tanya got up too.
