Chapter 40
Moni
Someone eyed Tanya and Ashley. “It’s amazing how interested young women are in VR and coding these days. Times have really changed”
“Tell me about it,” another replied. “After talking to Miss Mond, Louis told me how impressed he was with the up-and-coming talent and that our country’s future was in good hands, haha!”
Miss Mond graduated from a world-renowned university. Of course she’s promising talent!”
Tanya responded modestly to the praise.
Chase’s status meant Tanya, as his partner, enjoyed considerable deference. Ashley, however, was simply an employee of Tim’s company, albeir one with a rumored connection to him. This lack of “background” meant she wouldn’t receive the same level of attention.
The food arrived. Tanya served Sterling a dish, and he readily accepted. The conversation turned to the day’s exhibits and their future prospects.
Someone remarked, “Speaking of which, Mr. Sterling, your self-driving car and Mr. Reed’s intelligent traffic system are incredibly compatible. It’s gonna make something big. Are you sure you don’t want to work together?”
Chase and Tim hadn’t spoken to each other yet. Chase wiped his lips and looked at Tim, smiling. “I’ve thought about it. What do you think, Mr. Reed?”
Tim wouldn’t miss this opportunity.
“It’s our honor, Mr. Sterling.”
Tanya was really happy to see that. It would increase her opportunities to interact with Tim, making it easier to win him over.
She glanced coldly at Ashley, who was talking to Professor Louis and paying little attention to them. She didn’t mind if they would work together or
not.
The meal ended. Those interested in collaboration went to the sofas to chat. Chase’s proposal to collaborate was casual; Ashley wasn’t sure if it would happen. Mr. Rolan, however, did want to work with Tim – He and his management team were still talking with Tim. Ashley joined them. She handled technical discussions while Tim handled negotiations.
Ashley seldom spoke, but when Tim’s cup was empty, she took it.”I’ll refill it.”
Tim smiled. Thanks.”
Seeing that, Tanya and Yonnie confirmed Ashley was his assistant.
As Ashley refilled Tim’s cup, she was bumped by someone and stumbled into Chase. Everyone paused. Some wondered if it was intentional. It was convenient that she fell into Chase’s arms. Ashley was strikingly beautiful. Many of them thought she was even more attractive than Tanya. Many men had already been captivated, but Chase was different.
He coldly adjusted her shoulder and pushed her away, unmoved. Smelling the familiar scent, Ashley realized it was Chase. She straightened, saying “Sorry and then left.
Tanya and Yonnie thought Ashley did it intentionally. Yonnie snorted.”I knew she wouldn’t be quiet.”
But it was useless, Chase was unmoved.”
True, Yonnie smiled ‘Chase’s reaction reassured you.”
Tanya smiled sweetly. Mark frowned, realizing he’d misjudged Ashley. She was not as innocent as she looked.
Tim stopped talking to Mr. Rolan and went to Ashley Did it hurt?”
Ashley shook her head.
“Did you twist your ankle?”
