Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 64

Chapter 41

Tanya looked away and then at Chase, who was chatting with others.

He didn’t seem care about what Ashley and Tim were doing.

Tanya relaxed with a smile, then she stopped paying attention to Ashley. A doctor arrived, examined Ashley, and gave her medicine. Tim applied the ointment; the staff member brought her flats. She stood up.”It’s okay, I can walk.”

“Good.” But it was inconvenient. Tim suggested she skip the exhibits; he’d taken pictures and she could review them later. He told the others about it and then took Ashley home. After they left, the others dispersed.

Tim left after dropping Ashley off. She was tired and wanted to have a rest before working on the assignment from Burke. Then, her phone rang. It was an unknown number. She answered, “Hello?”

“It’s Zark Green.”

Ashley sat up.”Mr. Green?” She had a long day and she’d almost forgotten about what happened this morning.

“Your car is ready. You can pick it up later. Or I can have someone deliver it if you’re too busy to come.”

Ashley instinctively refused.”No need, I’ll pick it up myself.” Her tone was firm..

There was a moment of silence.

Ashley asked, “Mr. Green?”

“Okay, I’ll send you the repair shop’s number.”

Thank you.”

Zark hung up. Ashley couldn’t pick up the car with her injured foot. She asked Tim for help; he agreed.

In the evening, Ashley ordered takeout. Sam called, asking when she’d be home.

Ashley said directly, “I twisted my ankle and can’t walk now. I’m staying at my place to recover. I won’t go back, you may get some rest.”

Sam immediately asked, “Mom, you’re hurt? Is it serious? Does it hurt?”

It hurts, but it’s not serious. I’ll be fine in a few days.”

“Okay. Reassured, he asked, “Where are you? When Dad’s back, we’ll visit you.”

Ashley said, I’m good. I can take care of myself. Focus on school.”

“Okay…” They hung up. Chase returned. Sam called out, “Dad!” Before Chase could speak, he said, “Dad, Mom’s hurt! She’s recovering outside!”

Chase hummed, taking off his expensive coat and giving it to the housekeeper. “I know.”

“What?” Sam was surprised. “How did you know? Did Mom tell you?”

Chase sat down, taking a glass of water from the housekeeper.”No, I saw it myself.”

“You saw it?” Sam was stunned. “Were you there when Mom got hurt?”

‘Yes.’

Sam said,”Oh, right, Mom works at your company, so you saw her get hurt, right?”

‘No, Chase’s tone was calm.”She doesn’t work for me anymore.”

“What?” Sam looked puzzled.”Where does she work now?”

“Somewhere she likes.”

“Oh…” After drinking the water, Chase went upstairs. Before he left, he ruffled Sam’s hair. Good night.”

“Good night.”

< Chapter 41

Around 8 pm, Tim returned Ashley’s car. Ashley took the keys, asking, “How much is the repair?”

Tim sat on the sofa. “How would I know?”

“What? Ashley asked, ‘You got the car without paying?”

They let me take it when they learned it was your car.”

Ashley paused. Zark had paid for the repair? She hadn’t expected that.

What’s wrong?” Tim asked.

Ashley shook her head. “Nothing.”

“Let’s do the homework then. I need to finish this soon so I can have a good rest.” He was talking about Burke’s assignment.

“Okay.” She didn’t forget about the repair bill.”Let me make a call.”

“Hmm.”

Ashley called Zark. He answered immediately.

“Mr. Green, it’s me, Ashley.”

“I know. What is it?”

“My car’s fixed. Did you pay for the repairs? How much is it? I’ll transfer you the money.”

Zark paused, and then he said, “I’ll send you my account.”

“Okay. Thank you. And thank you for this morning.”

Zark calmly said, “You’re welcome.” He hung up.

Tim asked, “The man who helped with your car?”

Yes.”

Zark sent Ashley his account and the repair invoice.

Ashley checked it, opening her payment app and transferring him the money.
