Chapter 42
Hearing that, Ashley snapped back to reality. Yesterday, when she fell, Chase didn’t help her. He didn’t care about her injury, and he didn’t want Tanya to be upset. Her health meant nothing to him. Otherwise, why would he react that way?
She was about to say no when Chase spoke, “Ask your mother.”
Sam asked Ashley, Mom, Dad wants to know if you want to talk to him.”
Ashley said directly, “No, I’m busy.”
“Oh… Sam told Chase, “Dad, Mom said no.”
“Hmm.
“Mom, goodbye.”
“Bye.”
After hanging up, Sam said, “Dad, Mom seems angry.” He didn’t know why but felt it.
Chase asked, “Really?”
Yes.’
Hmm. That was it.
Ashley worked from home for a few days.
Sam called daily, checking on her injury, but didn’t visit. Burke replied to their “homework” two days later.
Their analysis, considered confidential elsewhere, was deemed worthless by Burke. So, they spent the next few days revising their work.
By Monday, Ashley’s ankle was better. She could go to work.
Tim told her that Chase wanted to collaborate. Chase didn’t come himself but sent someone last week. He hadn’t told Ashley earlier because he wanted her to focus on recovering.
Chase would send someone again. If everything went well, they’d finalize the plan.
Chase sent Molly Black to Eternal.
Molly wasn’t from Sterling Corp but Chase’s tech company.
It was their first meeting. Knowing Ashley was a tech expert, he greeted her politely.”Hello, Miss Jones.”
Ashley smiled. “Hello.”
The discussion was pleasant. Tim invited them to lunch. Getting out of the car, they saw Chase and Tanya. Ashley paused. Tim rubbed his temples; this was unexpected. Molly exclaimed, Mr. Sterling!”
Chase and Tanya turned. Seeing Ashley and Tim, they seemed surprised. Molly greeted them, then approached Chase and Tanya. Since Chase had seen them, and they had business to discuss, Ashley and Tim followed.
Molly knew Tanya and greeted her warmly,”Miss Mond,”
Tanya said, “Hello.” Her tone was cold. Molly didn’t mind; Tanya was important to Chase and might be his future boss.
Molly explained to Chase, I’m here to discuss collaboration with Eternal. I’m having lunch with Mr. Reed.”
Chase nodded, shaking his hand, “You did a great job.”
Chase glanced at Ashley and Tim. Then, he greeted Tim,”Mr. Reed.”
He just ignored Ashley.
Tim responded, “Since we’re here, why don’t you join us?”
Chase refused. “Well, I’ve got a date.” He didn’t want to be disturbed.
Tim smiled, I see.”
Though Tanya wanted more contact with Tim, she prioritized Chase. She was happy Chase cared about their date. She didn’t want to be disturbed, either. Thus, she left with Chase.
