Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 66

Chapter 43

After lunch and several hours of discussion, the two companies finalized a preliminary collaboration agreement.

Two days later, Ashley and Tim went to Speed, Chase’s tech company, to discuss the contract. Molly and a core executive, Gary King, were there. Gary arrived late. He apologized.”I was in a meeting with Mr. Sterling upstairs. Sorry.”

Was Chase at Speed? Ashley wondered.

Tim shook hands with Gary.”It’s fine.”

They continued discussing the contract. Someone entered. Ashley and Tim didn’t pay attention, assuming it was a regular employee.

But Molly and Gary stood up, greeting her, “Miss Mond.”

Ashley paused, looking up; it was Tanya. Tim frowned too. Tanya glanced at Ashley and said to Molly and Gary, I’m just looking around. Don’t mind

me.”

Molly immediately instructed the assistant to get Tanya water. He was warm and respectful, treating her like the future boss. Tanya greeted Tim, Mr. Reed.”

Tim nodded.”Miss Mond.”

Tanya took the tea, sat in a chair they’d got for her. She took a sip, put down the cup, and pointed at the contract.”May I see it?”

Gary smiled.”Of course.” Seeing Tim and Ashley frown, he explained, “Miss Mond is Mr. Sterling’s girlfriend. He never avoids her when signing contracts.” He meant that Tanya was an insider and there were no confidentiality concerns.

Tim smiled. That reassures us.”

Ashley remained silent. Chase’s study at home was always locked because of company secrets. She’d never entered it. But Tanya could freely access Speed’s confidential documents… their relationship was deeply established.

Tanya knew they’d react this way, and she was using that to tell Ashley how close she and Chase were. She put down the documents, looking at Ashley, who was looking down, seemingly avoiding eye contact. Tanya smiled, looking like a supervising boss.

While King was revising a clause, Tim asked, “Miss Mond, aren’t you planning to work at Speed?”

Tanya, looking directly at him.”Chase gave me an offer, but I prefer to rely on myself, not connections.”

Before Tim could respond, Gary interjected, “Miss Mond, don’t sell yourself short. We know you’re a VR genius. You may be close to Mr. Sterling, but we know you are all by your own efforts. Our work would be smoother with you. Why don’t you consider it again?”

Tanya smiled faintly, “Let’s talk about it another time.” She could work there anytime she wanted.

Ashley was already used to Chase’s special treatment towards Tanya.

Ashley took a sip of water and saw someone outside the glass door. It was Chase. She froze. He saw her but didn’t focus on her. Ashley turned to see Tanya smiling at the door.

Tanya said to Gary, I’m leaving.”

Gary and Molly realized Chase was there. It was almost noon; he must came to pick up Tanya for lunch. Seeing them stand up, Chase said, “Don’t bother; you guys go on.

Molly and Gary nodded. Chase politely said to Tim, I’ve got plans. See you around.”

‘See you around, Mr. Sterling.”

Chase glanced at Ashley, said nothing, and left with Tanya. He had many companies. Tim hadn’t expected Chase and Tanya to be at Speed. He patted Ashley’s shoulder.

Ashley shook her head. She was prepared to see Chase, but she hadn’t expected Tanya to be there. Molly said Tanya had been to Speed before, but she hadn’t expected her to be so familiar with this place.

The contract included technical cooperation; they discussed every clause carefully. It was 5 pm when they finished. Tim signed. Gary took the

documents to Chase.
