Chapter 59
Emily tapped the table, feigning anger.”Say something! Don’t play deaf!”
Chase put down his cup, saw Ashley, glanced at her, then calmly turned back to Emily.”Didn’t you tell me I had to come back to take you out this morning?”
“Hmph, I thought you’d forgotten about that again!”
“I wouldn’t dare.” But his expression remained impassive.
Emily was really annoyed. She ignored him and beckoned Ashley over.
Ashley sat down.”Grandma, are you going out?”
“We’re going out!” Emily chuckled.”Ashley, where do you want to go? I’m all yours now.”
Ashley sometimes felt she was really boring; she couldn’t think of a place they’d all enjoy. “I can go anywhere. Let’s go somewhere you like.”
Emily already had a plan.”How about a hot spring? We went there last time, and someone who never showed up got me sick. This time, I’m making him make it up to me!” The “someone” was clearly Chase.
He remained calm, sipping his tea, showing no discomfort or embarrassment. It seemed insignificant to him; he’d never really cared.
Ashley looked away. She’d already been to hot springs several times and didn’t feel like going again. But since Emily insisted, she complied. “Okay.”
After breakfast, Ashley began packing, but only her own things. She didn’t touch Chase’s. Even though he was her husband, he wasn’t her man.
He was with Tanya now. He probably wouldn’t appreciate her touching his belongings, and frankly, she didn’t want to. the housekeeper took care of Sam’s things.
Before, she would have worried about whether Sam had packed everything, even after the housekeeper had done that. Now, having finished packing her stuff, she directly wheeled her suitcase downstairs, not caring if Sam was ready or not.
After waiting a bit, Sam and Chase came down as well.
At the resort, Chase went off to make a call. While Ashley was unpacking in their room, Emily entered and gave her a box.”I got this for you. Remember to wear it for the hot springs.”
Ashley knew what was inside from her expression. She felt uncomfortable.”Grandma, I brought my own…”
“Don’t worry, it’s normal, not sexy at all. Check it out if you don’t believe me.”
Ashley opened the box. As expected, it was a set of lingerie. The style seemed similar to what she usually wore. She relaxed.
Emily smiled, urging her.”Don’t forget to wear it.”
Ashley compromised.”…Okay,”
She’d barely agreed when Chase returned to the room. He saw the lingerie, too. Ashley quickly closed the box.
Chase acted as if he hadn’t seen that. He glanced away indifferently.”Grandma, what’s up?”
I’m here to hurry you both to the hot springs!” Emily nudged Chase.”Come on, change!”
He paused, but didn’t object. Moments later, he emerged from the bathroom in a bathrobe.
Seeing him, Ashley went into the bathroom as well. When she returned in her bathrobe, he was gone. Just as she was about to head to the hot springs, Grandma appeared from the next room, smiling, ‘Chase’s in the small pool on the left. Go ahead.”
The small pool was tiny, less than ten square feet. If they both sat down, their legs would practically touch without stretching. Emily was clearly trying
to get them to reconnect, especially they were all wearing minimal clothing. The situation was ripe for… well, you know.
