Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 96

Chapter 74

Usually, Chase’s trips wouldn’t stop Sam from visiting Tanya. It was the weekend, and Sam calling her instead of Tanya meant Tanya was probably busy. Miranda and the rest of the family were in town, Tanya wouldn’t have time for her.

“Be good, I’ll be back tomorrow.”

“Okay!” Sam cheered up. You’ll come back tomorrow morning, right?”

‘Yes.’

That night, Ashley still hadn’t found a suitable gift. Her grandmother’s birthday was fast approaching. She had considered settling for something decent, but ultimately decided against it.

The next morning, Ashley returned to Chase’s villa. While Sam ate breakfast, Ashley remembered something she needed and went upstairs to the master bedroom.

As soon as she entered, she noticed two exquisitely crafted jewel boxes on her vanity.

Like the house deed before, the two boxes on her vanity meant they were for her. Ashley opened the round one.

Then, she was stunned. It was the emerald jewelry set she’d wanted to bid on at the auction!

The other box was rectangular and heavier. Could it be…?

Serting down the round box, she opened the second one. Inside was a scroll.

She carefully placed the scroll on the table and unfurled it. A vibrant, exquisitely embroidered painting unfolded before her.

The two items she’d coveted at the auction were now in her possession. Ashley was silent for a long time.

If she wasn’t mistaken, Chase had purchased both of them as gifts for Tanya’s grandmother. One would be given in Emily’s name. The other, in the name of him and Tanya… as a couple.

“Mom, I’m done eating! Let’s go!”

Sam dashed upstairs after breakfast. Seeing the open boxes, he peered inside.”Oh, Dad brought these back the other day. He said they were for you.”

Ashley gave a noncommittal “Hmm,” carefully re-rolling the scroll and returning it to its box. Only then did she and Sam leave.

Sam wanted to try an indoor shooting range, so Ashley took him there and then to ride rollercoasters.

In the past, Ashley would have prioritized Sam above all else. But now, she said calmly, “I have something else to do. If you want to keep playing, ask on of the bodyguards to accompany you.”

Sam didn’t want a bodyguard. He pouted and clung to Ashley, whining, “Mom…”

In the past, this tactic always worked. Ashley couldn’t resist her son’s pleading. Thus, Sam was really surprised when Ashley gently pushed him away “I’m busy. We’ll do this another time.”

Seeing Ashley’s firm resolve and furrowed brow, Sam realized his mother was serious and finally conceded. “Okay…”

After instructing the bodyguard to look after Sam, Ashley got in her car, navigated to a slightly more distant antique market she hadn’t been to before.

After a long search, she found an exceptionally rare set of writing implements. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship were exquisite. Ashley knew immediately that she wanted it, spending over one million to purchase it.

While it was far cheaper than the painting or the emerald jewelry, Ashley knew this would be much more appreciated than those extravagant gifts. Stroking the unique texture of the paper and the meticulously carved brush handles made of precious wood, she could already imagine her grandmother’s delighted face.

This was her personal gift.

As for Chase’s gifts…

Just as she was thinking about it, Cindy called.

“Cindy?”

“Sorry, Ashley. I have to go out of town tomorrow and I can’t go shopping with you for your grandma’s present.”

“It’s okay, I’ve already bought one.” Ashley hadn’t planned on buying anything at this antique shop, but things went really smooth. She was unexpectedly

lucky.
