Chapter 75
On Sunday, Ashley took Sam back to Amanda’s place to discuss the upcoming celebration with Steve and his wife.
Chase wasn’t home on Sunday, so Ashley stayed at the villa. He didn’t return until Tuesday.
She wouldn’t likely be back there for a few days.
So, on Monday, before taking Sam to school, Ashley put Chase’s gifts for her grandmother in her car.
She still didn’t understand why he’d coincidentally bought the things she wanted, especially since Tanya had initially bid on them. It felt… tainted.
But the gifts themselves were lovely and valuable.
If she didn’t take them, they would only benefit Tanya. So, she took them.
After dropping Sam off, Ashley went to the office. Eternal had three or four new projects underway, making it an exceptionally busy week for both her
and Tim.
Chase must have returned on schedule because Sam didn’t call her for the next three days.
On Wednesday evening, Ashley and Tim were having dinner with a client.
As they approached the private room, they saw Chase, Tanya, Mark, and Miranda.
With Miranda and Vivian (Tanya’s mother) now in the capital, Chase, as the future grandson-in-law, wanted to make a good impression.
He’d only returned from a business trip the day before, yet he’d made time for this dinner. He clearly cared deeply for Tanya.
The last time, Miranda and the others hadn’t noticed her. This time, they saw her and seemed to want to say something, but the presence of Chase stopped them. Tanya and Chase, due to their positioning, didn’t see her.
Ashley calmly looked away and left. the Mond family didn’t follow.
Over an hour later, as Ashley and Tim were leaving the restaurant, they saw the Mond family again. They were in the parking lot, preparing to leave. Chase was gone.
Before Ashley or Tim could react, their client, Mr. Ford, spotted them and approached enthusiastically. “Miss Lin, Mr. Lin.”
unattainable dream.
He’d claimed meeting her had taught him what love truly was. They were deeply in love. He had insisted Vivian was kind beneath her cold exterior, urging Ashley not to follow her mother’s example, but to recognize Vivian’s virtues.
Unlike other mistresses, Vivian had always been kind to Ashley, though her demeanor remained cold and distant, aloof and unapproachable.
“Mr. Ford, Mark greeted smoothly, shaking hands with him. Tanya followed suit.”Are you discussing business with Mr. Reed?”
“Yes, I’m quite interested in a few of Mr. Reed’s recent projects,” Ford replied.
Noticing Tim and Ashley hadn’t joined them, Mark was a bit stunned, but he didn’t seem too concerned. Mr. Ford, oblivious to the underlying tension, found Tim’s lack of engagement unusual. As a businessman, even if Tim didn’t know the Monds, a simple greeting and networking wouldn’t hurt. While Tanya and Mark chatted with Mr. Ford, Miranda, after a brief exchange, approached Ashley and Tim with Vivian.
Tim looked at Ashley, who remained motionless as they approached.
