You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 595

“So, what did you end up doing after that?” Patricia asked, her voice a little hesitant.

“I checked in with Johns. He said you’d gone upstairs to rest, so I just went to bed too.”

Patricia let out a quiet breath. Good, she thought. She’d have felt awful if someone had stayed up waiting for her all night.

They chatted a bit longer before hanging up.

After her bath and getting herself together, Patricia headed downstairs right at eight thirty. Breakfast was waiting, with her cold medicine on the tray.

She ate quietly, finishing her meal in peace. The soft sound of her spoon tapping the bowl was the only thing that broke the silence.

Patricia paused, her gaze lingering for a moment.

Across from her, Ruby slowly looked up from her laptop, eyes sharp and piercing.

Her tone was cold, all business. “Tell me. What do you mean the story can’t be published?”

“If the print media won’t run it, what about online? Don’t tell me it’s blocked there too.”

The person on the other end of the call was practically shaking, voice barely steady as they shook their head.

Honestly, it was strange. They’d planned to leak the news that Martin Group was changing hands, hoping to squash the rumors swirling around Tina. People always said the one who benefited was the one pulling the strings.

But now, Tina wasn’t the one coming out ahead. What could they even say? The truth was right there for everyone to see. Were people really going to pretend Tina was still secretly in charge?

No one expected this. No matter what they tried, whether print or online, their press release went nowhere.

Even when they tried using bots and fake accounts to spread it, it just disappeared into the void.

“Mr. Martin, it’s not that we didn’t try,” the voice stammered. “We did everything we could, but every single post just vanished. It’s like someone’s watching and blocking everything.”

Ruby gave a short, bitter laugh.

Someone was watching? Who else could it be but Patricia?

She wasn’t giving them a second to breathe.
