You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 682

While Mr. Padilla was out, someone slipped over to Patricia and whispered, “Did you and Mr. Padilla have a fight?”

“No.”

“He’s been in a pretty foul mood lately.”

Patricia opened her mouth, ready to say something, but nothing came out. How was she supposed to explain? Should she just come right out and say Oliver was frustrated and unsatisfied?

October 8th.

First day back after the holidays. The moment Patricia walked into the office, she called an executive meeting. She kept it brief—just a straightforward update about Tina, and while she was at it, she gave promotions to two people she trusted.

When the meeting ended, everyone filed out looking rattled, clutching their laptops and notebooks, some almost tripping over their own feet.

It wasn’t until they got in the elevator that someone finally broke the silence. “So… Emerson and Tina killed Patricia’s parents? Did I hear that right? You all heard it too, right?”

“You heard right. That’s exactly what Mr. Martin said. The police closed the case, so it’s all official now.”

“Jesus. How do you even do something like that? That was her own uncle and aunt!”

“I always thought those two were such nice people. Turns out I was way off.”

“So they killed their own family, stole the company, and now, years later, their niece turns around and sends them both to prison? This is straight out of a revenge drama.”

“Seriously. You couldn’t make this stuff up.”

The elevator doors opened and everyone wandered back to their desks, still buzzing. By lunchtime, the whole company was talking about it like it was the latest celebrity scandal.

That afternoon, Ruby showed up at Martin Group to see Patricia.

She barely made it to the front doors before security stopped her in her tracks.

Patricia recognized her right away, her voice icy. “What’s going on here?”

“Ms. Martin, if you could wait a minute, we just need to call upstairs.”
