You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 837

Patricia lay sprawled across the bed, every muscle in her body deliciously sore. There was this tingling along her back, almost like a swarm of tiny ants crawling over her skin, and it sent her nerves buzzing. It was as if electricity had swept through her, both painful and euphoric at the same time.

Oliver was pressed up behind her, his arms wrapped around her waist. His hand rested on her stomach, slowly tracing circles, and his breath came in warm, uneven bursts against her neck, making her shiver and squirm.

“What’s on your mind?” Oliver finally asked. He noticed how quiet she’d gotten and seemed worried she might be uncomfortable but too shy to say anything. He tried to break the silence, his voice soft in the dark.

Patricia wiggled her fingers, then reached back to take his hand in hers. “I was just thinking… if we keep going like this, do you think it’ll know?”

The way she said it sent a thrill through Oliver. He couldn't help it. Patricia felt the change in him and twisted around, giving his shoulder a playful smack.

He let out a low laugh, still holding her close, his voice vibrating with amusement. “You always think I’m the model of self-control,” he teased. “In your eyes, I’m probably some kind of saint.”

“You’re not?” she shot back, eyebrow raised.

“Definitely not,” he said without missing a beat. “There’s nothing saintly about me.” He took her hand and guided it to the top of his head. “Not up here…” Then he pressed it over his heart. “Not here…” And then, lower still, with a wicked grin, “And down here… especially not.”

Patricia yanked her hand away, cheeks burning, and smacked him again. “You’re impossible. I should tell my mom you’re still messing with me even though I’m pregnant.”

Oliver just laughed, the sound deep and happy. He loved when she got flustered and threatened him, knowing she could never really stay mad. “I’m innocent, I swear. You were the one egging me on, telling me to hurry up and stop teasing you.”

“Get lost. You have absolutely no shame,” she grumbled, but her lips twitched with a smile.

That year, Patricia spent the whole New Year holiday at Golden Bay. Oliver was always busy, coming and going for work and social events, leaving early in the morning and getting home late at night. Still, he always made time for her when he could. Even when he was home, guests flowed through the Padilla house nonstop, keeping him on his toes. Patricia had gotten used to his hectic schedule and found herself enjoying the quiet moments alone. Sometimes, when he was around, he’d pop in to check on her, just to see if she was reading or hanging out with Selara and the others.
