You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 873

At ten sharp, Hector parked and strode straight into the elevator lobby. Before he could step inside, he messaged Chelsea to unlock his access.

The building was high-end, the kind of place where every resident’s elevator card only worked for their own floor. If Hector wanted to come down, or Chelsea wanted to visit him, they had to approve each other’s access first. Thankfully, it was all handled through their phones.

When Hector got there, Chelsea’s door was already wide open.

She was lounging on the sofa in a black slip dress, rubbing lotion onto her legs. Her fingers moved in slow, upward strokes, almost like she was giving herself a mini-spa treatment. She looked so calm, so unbothered, it was actually annoying.

Meanwhile, Hector had been stewing the whole drive over. Seeing her so relaxed just made his mood worse.

“You’re in a surprisingly good mood,” he said, not bothering to hide his sarcasm.

Chelsea looked up, blinking at him, a little confused. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Did you take something weird? Is it allergy season or are you just acting up today?”

She opened her mouth, but Hector was already fuming, unable to get the words out.

He glared at her, hands on his hips, like he was staring down a clueless intern. He wanted to yell, but nothing came out except a deep, frustrated sigh.

“Mr. McKee?” Chelsea asked, her voice full of concern. She honestly had no idea what was up with him.

He exhaled loudly, still standing next to the couch, staring down at her. After a long pause, he finally managed, “Are you done yet?”

Chelsea shook her head, totally unfazed. “Nope. Want to help? Just wash your hands first.”

“Can’t you do it yourself?”

“Then don’t rush me.”

She rolled her eyes, thinking, Thank God he doesn’t believe in marriage. If I had to marry someone like this, I’d be worried I’d end up with no one to boss around but him.

She went back to her routine, finishing one leg and starting on the other. Then she suddenly remembered something and looked up at Hector. “Did you come here for something, Mr. McKee?”

“If you’re hoping to hook up, not tonight. I’m on my period.”

He looked almost offended. “Is that all you think I want from you?”
