“Until Patricia is fully recovered, none of you are allowed to bring junk food into this house again. If you do, don’t blame me for losing my temper.”
“Got it, got it! We’re leaving, we’re leaving!” The three of them rushed to gather their snacks and scurried off to their rooms. On their way out, they even remembered to open the windows and let some fresh air in.
Patricia’s moods always came and went in a flash. She’d get upset, but she never let it last. She really tried to be sensible about everything. Still, for someone who loved her spicy, flavorful food, being forced to eat nothing but bland, healthy meals for forty days felt like torture.
Luckily, at her forty-two-day postpartum checkup, the doctor said she was healing well. Mr. Padilla finally relaxed and started letting her do more of what she wanted.
But just because she was out of the woods didn’t mean everything was back to normal. Patricia wanted to go out and enjoy her freedom again, but her body just wasn’t ready yet. Every time she walked or stood for too long, she could feel all the little aches and pains from giving birth. She was nothing like those moms online who seemed to bounce back overnight. If anything, she felt tired all the time, like her energy was always running low. Things only started to get better as their daughter’s hundred-day celebration approached.
Mr. Padilla was over the moon about their baby girl, his first child. They had skipped the one-month celebration because his grandfather had just passed away, but as the hundred-day mark drew closer, he started making plans. He hired an event planner to decorate their house at Cloud Peak, mapped out every detail, and invited their closest friends and business partners. Even Jaxon and the others made the trip from Golden Bay.
On the day of the party, Patricia’s body had mostly bounced back, though she was still a few pounds away from her pre-pregnancy weight. She wore a custom-made dress with beautiful Suzhou embroidery, and the way it hugged her curves made her look absolutely stunning. Selara couldn’t help but stare. “You look like a million bucks.”
Patricia blushed and quickly tried to cover her chest with her hand.
“Oliver really spoils you. That dress must have cost a fortune,” Selara teased.
Patricia honestly had no idea. Oliver had taken care of everything, from the style to the embroidery. All she’d done was show up for her measurements. He didn’t want her worrying about any of it, and she was more than happy to let him handle it.
The hundred-day party was really just a small gathering, filled with family and close friends. The baby was dressed in an adorable red onesie and behaved like a little angel. Katie couldn’t stop cuddling her. “Holding a daughter is so different from holding a son,” she sighed.
