Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2164

Doris walked over to Athena, wanting to whisper something privately, but Tyler spoke up before she could.

“Breakfast isn’t for you. Now that you’ve seen her, it’s time to go. Athena and I have some things to discuss.”

“Oh really?” Doris shot back. “What could you and Athena possibly have to talk about?”

Tyler smirked. “Just the usual stuff between a man and a woman. I want to have my breakfast.”

He stressed the word breakfast, making it sound less like he meant the meal Athena was preparing and more like he was referring to Athena herself.

Doris rolled her eyes. This guy was shameless. Still, she knew when she wasn’t wanted and decided not to linger.

“Athena, I’ll head out then. Keep in touch, okay? And about what I mentioned last time—if you want to get back into acting, just let me know. It’s not a lost cause.”

Tyler walked her to the door and raised an eyebrow at that.

“If she wants to get back into acting, she doesn’t need to go through you.”

He could handle anything for Athena, that much was clear.

Doris’s expression turned sardonic. “Well, I just worry Mr. Bennitt might not be willing to help Athena. After all, she’s been sharing your bed for ages and hasn’t gotten a single break from you, while you’re so generous with every other woman.”

Tyler was left speechless. As much as he hated to admit it, she had a point.

He closed the door and turned to face Athena.

She frowned at him. “Could you be a little nicer to Doris? She’s my only friend.”

Tyler shrugged. “Athena, do you want to keep acting?”

She looked at his face, trying to read his intentions.

Instead of answering, she walked back into the kitchen, and Tyler followed close behind.

“I’m serious,” he said. “Do you really enjoy acting that much?”

“Not really. I only started acting to get closer to you.”

In truth, she didn’t care much about labels or relationships. As long as she could stay close to him, that was enough.

Tyler slipped his arms around her from behind and pressed a kiss to her hair.

“Alright then. From now on, you’re my girlfriend.”

But then he remembered the new nickname he’d just set for her in his phone and felt a twinge of embarrassment—what if someone found out and teased him?

“One more thing—I won’t be going public with this, at least not yet. You don’t mind, do you?”

He already knew the answer. There was no way Athena would mind; she cared about him too much. If anything, she’d be grateful just to have a title.

Just thinking about it made Tyler feel all warm inside.

“Okay,” Athena replied, her voice perfectly calm. Whether their relationship was public or not didn’t matter. Nothing about the way they interacted would actually change.

Tyler’s mood soured a little. Sure, he was the one who wanted to keep things private, but seeing how unfazed she was somehow rubbed him the wrong way.
