Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2282

When Athena opened her eyes, she was greeted by the sight of an unfamiliar ceiling. Just like Marlon had promised, she was safe.

She sat up and glanced around, but there was no sign of Marlon.

Athena got out of bed and opened the door, where a few people were waiting outside—Marlon's bodyguards. They looked at her with a mixture of relief and excitement.

"Ms. Zade, are you alright?"

Athena nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Where's Marlon?"

"The boss is still unconscious."

"I want to see him."

She remembered how she had purposefully acted out, pushing Marlon several times until he fell into the campfire. His back must have been burned. Yet Marlon, with his uncanny resilience, had still managed to carry her to safety, ensuring she didn't have a scratch.

Athena didn't feel grateful; instead, she felt a pang of regret. She had intended for them both to perish there, yet here they were, alive and well.

Taking a deep breath, she headed to Marlon's room.

Marlon was asleep, with a doctor checking on his injuries. The island's medical facilities weren't as advanced as those back in Greenfield. Due to his burns, Marlon had been out cold for two days, with the doctor standing vigil to prevent any infection.
