Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2284

Tyler had always thought the plots he wrote were the most melodramatic, but reality often proved even more bewildering.

He downed one drink after another, thoughts of Athena magnifying the bitterness in his heart.

The door to the lounge swung open, and Ian arrived a bit late. Seeing Tyler drinking alone, he quickly tried to console him. "What's going on, man? You've had quite a few. Is there anything so bad you can't get past it? Let’s plan a day out with the gang. Maja’s been itching to have some fun too."

Tyler used to love going out, but now the thought of it just left him feeling drained.

He stared blankly at his glass, recalling a conversation from long ago when Ian had asked him how to make a woman fall in love. Back then, Tyler found it amusing. A guy as great as Ian worrying about women seemed absurd.

There were plenty of women in the world. If one didn’t work out, there was always the next. But karma had come full circle, and now Tyler found himself pining for someone he couldn’t have. Worse yet, she wasn’t interested in him and was instead toying with another man’s emotions.

When Tyler had seen Marlon outside the police station that day, he knew Athena’s rough plan. It was obvious from the way Marlon looked at her. Marlon had fallen for her too, just like Tyler.

But Tyler didn’t feel jealous; he felt bitter. Poor Marlon, always so cocky, had finally fallen for a woman who might be his undoing.

Tyler took another sip, unable to decide who was worse off, him or Marlon.

Sitting nearby, Fitch reached over and stopped him from drinking more. "Enough, Tyler. You want to end up in the ER with a bleeding stomach?"

Tyler managed a wry smile. "Maybe a trip to the hospital would help me forget everything."

Fitch furrowed his brow and replied dryly, "If you want to pass out, I can make that happen."

Fitch, usually so stoic, rarely joked, but Tyler didn’t find it funny. He just lowered his eyes, his voice rough. "She doesn’t want me. Not only that, she’s flirting with another guy. I know I’ve been cheated on, but I’m not angry, just bitter. Does that make me crazy?"

Ian almost teased Tyler back, like Tyler used to do to him, suggesting he try being the other man for a change. But Tyler’s mood was clearly off, so Ian bit his tongue.

True to form, Tyler didn’t keep drinking. Instead, he mumbled incoherently about heartless women, swearing he’d never like her again and hoping she’d never return.
