From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 109

Lily George looked at him and asked, “What’s going on?”

“Ms. Carter is back,” the butler replied.

“Shirley?” Lily raised an eyebrow.

The butler nodded just as two women walked in.

Shirley Carter entered with Catherine Blair at her side, stopping in front of Lily.

“Mom,” Shirley greeted.

Catherine chimed in right after, “Grandma.”

Then she glanced over at Adelina Lane and added, “Hi, Adelina.”

Adelina replied with a gentle smile.

Lily’s gaze landed on Shirley, her brow furrowing. “What brings you by today?”

Shirley flopped onto the couch with a dramatic sigh. “What, I can’t come visit my own mother unless something’s wrong? You sound like you can’t stand me.”

Lily shot her a look. “Why would I be tired of you?”

Then her eyes shifted to Catherine, who stood quietly nearby. “Catherine, is that you? It’s been ages.”

Catherine nodded politely. “Yes, Grandma, it’s me. Adelina told me you’ve been under the weather lately, so I thought I’d tag along and visit you.”

Lily nodded, her tone warm but reserved. “That’s thoughtful of you. Have a seat.”

Catherine smiled. “Thanks, Grandma.”

The whole time, Shirley barely glanced at Adelina. Instead, her attention flickered to the young woman sitting beside Lily—Olivia Bennett. She hesitated for a second, confusion flickering across her face.

“And who’s this? I don’t think we’ve met.”

Shirley’s face fell, clearly at a loss for words.

She’d heard from Daisy Dale that Ethan might be seeing someone, but she never expected it to go straight to a courthouse wedding.

Just like his dad, she thought. Always acting first, explaining later.

Olivia sat quietly, sipping from her glass. Adelina gave her a kind look and said, “Mom, I’ll take Olivia upstairs so she can rest for a bit.”

Lily nodded immediately. “Of course, go ahead.”

Olivia followed Adelina up the stairs, leaving Lily, Shirley, and Catherine in the living room.

After a moment, Shirley asked, “So… which family is Olivia from?”

Lily chuckled. “She’s a Bennett. From the Bennett family, naturally.”

Shirley frowned, pressing for details. “I mean—which Bennetts? Where’s she from, exactly?”
