From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 142

Lavinia Bennett straightened up, a mischievous smile on her lips as she turned to Olivia Bennett. “How about we make up our own poses this time?”

Olivia shrugged, a little amused. “Sure, why not.”

Lavinia skipped around to stand in front of Daniel Gill, her gaze softening. “Daniel, stand up for me, will you?”

He glanced up at her, then got to his feet.

“Move the chair out of the way.”

Daniel followed her directions, moving almost mechanically, like a puppet on strings.

Lavinia stepped closer and slipped her arms around his neck. “Look down at me, like you did before.”

As he leaned in, Lavinia shot a quick glance at Olivia from the corner of her eye—and suddenly pressed her lips to Daniel’s.

Daniel froze, startled, and instinctively pulled away.

Lavinia blinked at him, her lips parted in surprise. “Daniel, why did you pull away?”

He realized what he'd done, lips pressing together nervously. “Sorry, I wasn’t thinking.”

Lavinia’s brows knit together, suspicion flickering in her eyes.

Trying to reassure her, Daniel wrapped his arms gently around her waist and mumbled, “I just got distracted for a second. You moved so fast, I didn’t have time to react.”

Lavinia pouted, but Olivia lifted her chin, her eyes losing their warmth and turning serious. “Then kiss me,” Lavinia challenged.

Daniel hesitated, staring at her lips, before finally closing his eyes and kissing her.

A sly smile curved on Lavinia’s lips and she whispered, “Open your eyes. Look at me.”

For a moment, Daniel seemed lost in thought, but then he slowly opened his eyes—and this time, his gaze was softer, almost tender.

Lavinia immediately brightened, her smile returning.

Olivia, meanwhile, smirked and pressed the shutter on her camera.

Lavinia, still clinging to Daniel, turned her head and arched her brow at Olivia. “Did you get the shot?”

Olivia’s lips curled in a half-smile. “Got it.”

Lavinia’s laughter bubbled out. “Next time, let’s get someone else to take the photos. No need to bother Olivia again. Or, hey, we could even go outside right now, if you’re up for it.”

Daniel, ever the gentleman, shook his head. “Let’s not. You’re tired. Next time’s fine.”

Lavinia nodded, then turned to Olivia. “Thanks for today, Olivia. Really.”

She put extra emphasis on the word “thanks.”

Olivia shrugged. “No biggie. You pay, I work. That’s how it goes.”

A million bucks, she thought wryly. For that kind of money, she’d shoot them in Times Square at rush hour if they wanted.

Only Lavinia seemed to think Olivia might be secretly suffering, like every photo was a knife to her heart.

Without another word, Olivia turned on her heel, camera slung over her shoulder. She didn’t even glance back at them. “Go get changed. When you’re done, come out and pick your favorites. I’ll be waiting outside.”

“Alright, we—”

Lavinia was about to agree, but something in Olivia’s hand suddenly caught her eye.
