From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 143

Just as she was about to double-check, Olivia Bennett was already striding out the door.

She narrowed her eyes.

If she wasn’t mistaken...

There was a ring on Olivia Bennett’s fourth finger.

“What’s up?”

Daniel Gill’s brows knit as he caught the sudden shift in her expression.

Lavinia Bennett’s lips curled into a sly, unreadable smile.

She let out a little laugh. “It’s nothing. Something just popped into my head, that’s all. Let’s go get changed.”

She masked whatever emotion had flickered in her eyes, grabbing Daniel by the arm and leading him to the dressing room.

By the time Daniel was done changing, Lavinia still hadn’t come out. After waiting a while, he finally gave in to curiosity and stepped out into the hall.

Olivia was sitting at her laptop, scrolling through photos, when she heard his heavy footsteps approaching.

She turned her head—and there was Daniel, tall and imposing, filling up the doorway.

“Olivia,” he said, walking over.

She looked back at her screen, her tone distant. “Are you waiting for Lavinia, or do you want to look at the photos yourself?”

“I don’t want to look,” he muttered.

Olivia just shrugged. “Then I guess we’ll wait for Lavinia.”

“That’s not what I meant.” Daniel’s gaze was intense. “Where have you been staying lately? You haven’t been in town for weeks.”

She didn’t even spare him a glance. “I don’t think we’re close enough to talk about my personal life. If it’s not about the photos, please don’t bother me.”

Ouch.

He pressed his lips together, searching for words, but a new set of footsteps echoed in the hallway.

Then Lavinia’s familiar, slightly playful voice called out, “Why didn’t you wait for me?”

She hurried over and wrapped her arms around Daniel’s.

He swallowed down what he’d been about to say, his eyes shifting as he let Lavinia cling to him.

“I just went to the restroom,” he said, gentle now. “Figured you’d be done soon, so I came straight here.”

Lavinia shot Olivia a quick look, then pouted. “You could’ve at least told me.”

If she hadn’t seen there was nothing going on between them, she would’ve caused a scene.

Daniel squeezed her hand, his voice soft. “Sorry, I just rushed over. I barely got here before you.”

He was being sweet, and Lavinia let out a little “hmph.” “Alright, let’s pick the photos. Then we can head home—I’m holding you to your promise, Daniel. I don’t want to waste all day here.”
