From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 144

Daniel Gill lowered his gaze, stealing a quick, unreadable glance at Olivia Bennett.

Olivia acted as if she hadn’t heard a thing, sitting perfectly still.

A bitter taste crept through Daniel’s chest. He forced out a quiet, “Alright.”

Olivia shifted slightly, turning her laptop so everyone could see the photos.

Lavinia Bennett’s eyes went wide as she stared at the first picture on the screen.

She was in a white dress and Daniel stood close beside her, their faces almost touching, gazing into each other’s eyes like something from a movie poster.

They looked absolutely perfect together—a real power couple.

Lavinia didn’t want to admit it, but Olivia’s photography was pretty impressive.

Still, she told herself, it had to be because she and Daniel were just that good-looking.

Feeling smug, Lavinia slid her hand down, lacing her fingers with Daniel’s, and grinned. “Just wait until we do outdoor shots next time. They’ll come out even better.”

Daniel’s eyes dropped, and he gave a soft, noncommittal “Yeah.”

Lavinia hardly noticed. She was too busy scrolling through the photos, thoroughly satisfied as she clicked through each one.

Finally, she asked Olivia to send her every single photo.

She even picked out her favorites from every pose to make an album.

Olivia sent her all the files right there, then stood up and gestured politely. “If there’s nothing else, you can settle the bill over here.”

Lavinia tucked her phone away, clearly eager to leave, and nodded. “Let’s pay then.”

“By the way—” Lavinia’s gaze dropped to Olivia’s left hand, eyes catching the ring on her finger. “You’re married?”

Daniel’s head snapped up, his whole body tensing. “What did you say?”

Lavinia blinked innocently, pointing at Olivia’s hand. “I just noticed her ring, that’s all. Got curious.”

Daniel felt a sharp, metallic taste in his mouth. He stared at Olivia like he didn’t quite believe what he was seeing.

She was married. Actually married.

How could she be married?

How could she wear another man’s ring?

It felt like someone had hit Daniel over the head with a baseball bat. His mind spun, pain welling up inside him, threatening to spill over.

He stared at Olivia, desperate to ask her a thousand questions, but the words caught in his throat.

Lavinia’s warm grip on his hand kept him from unraveling completely.

He clenched his jaw, locking all the wild emotions deep inside.

His face barely changed, but the shock in his eyes was obvious.
