From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 326

"Yeah, I know." Adelina Lane was worried sick, but she forced herself to sound calm as she gently followed his lead. "We don’t know anything for sure yet, so let’s not panic, okay? Come on, Olivia, honey, deep breaths. We’ll get through this together."

She sounded steady, but inside, Adelina was anything but.

Olivia Bennett clung to Adelina, her whole world spinning out of control. Suddenly, everything went dark around her. The air grew thin, and a sharp pain tore through her stomach. She could feel something was terribly wrong—like something precious was slipping away fast.

She grabbed Adelina’s arm with all her strength, her face twisted in pain, the other hand cradling her belly. Her voice broke in a gasp: "It hurts—my stomach, it hurts so bad…"

Adelina’s heart dropped. She glanced down—and froze in horror.

"Blood—she’s bleeding!" Adelina cried, her mind going blank with shock.

Olivia’s hand pressed so hard against her stomach her knuckles turned white. Her face was a mask of pain and fear, tears brimming in her wide eyes. "It hurts, Mom. My baby…please—"

Her voice trembled with terror.

Lance Carter, thankfully, was the calmest of them all. He scooped Olivia up in his arms and barked at Adelina, "We need to get Olivia to the hospital. Grab the car keys, quick!"

Adelina snapped out of her panic, nodding frantically. "Okay, okay—on it!"

They rushed toward the garage, adrenaline carrying them forward.

Lance didn’t slow down for a second, practically sprinting with Olivia in his arms.

Adelina hurried to keep up, murmuring desperate reassurances. "You’re going to be okay, Olivia. Nothing’s going to happen, I promise. Just hold on…"

Her voice cracked, betraying her own fear, but she kept talking—maybe for Olivia, maybe for herself.

"Ethan…" she whimpered, her voice barely a whisper.

"Ethan’s going to be fine too," Adelina said quickly. "Right now, you need to stay calm, for the baby. If you panic, it’s not good for either of you. Ethan would want you to be strong. You’re a mom now, Olivia. Breathe with me, okay? In and out…"

Olivia tried, her hand moving to her belly, her breaths coming in shaky gasps.

"That’s it…slow and steady. Deep breath in…now let it out…again…"

Adelina guided her through the breathing, gently, over and over.

Olivia started to calm down a little, though her brow stayed furrowed and her face was still drained of color. The pain only seemed to get worse. "It hurts, Mom. It hurts so much…"

"We’re almost there," Adelina reassured her softly. "Just a little longer, sweetheart. Hold on for me. Everything’s going to be okay."
