From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 334

Ethan Carter’s attention was completely on Olivia Bennett. As for the baby, he’d barely spared a glance.

If you asked him to describe her, honestly, he couldn’t remember. He frowned, only a single impression sticking in his mind.

He blurted out, “Kinda ugly.”

Olivia stared at him, absolutely floored. Her face froze. “Excuse me? What did you just say?”

Adelina Lane couldn’t take it anymore—she smacked Ethan lightly on the arm. “What’s wrong with you?”

It was only then that Ethan realized what he’d just said out loud. Seeing Olivia looking like she was about to have a meltdown, he tried to recover. “I, uh... didn’t get a good look.”

Olivia’s perfectly arched eyebrows furrowed. “You didn’t even look at the baby?”

Ethan nodded. “You passed out right after giving birth. I wasn’t exactly in the mood to check her out.”

Olivia let out a shaky breath, not quite convinced. “So… she’s not ugly, right?”

Adelina just shook her head at Ethan, sighing as she turned to Olivia. “Definitely not ugly. Newborns always look a little wrinkly, like tiny old men. He probably just didn’t see clearly. Ignore him. Give her a few weeks—she’ll be adorable.”

She grinned, giving Olivia a reassuring look. “Come on, with your looks and Ethan’s, there’s no way your baby won’t be cute. She’ll be a little princess, just like you.”

Adelina’s words finally calmed Olivia down.

She glanced at Ethan, a smile tugging at her lips. “If you keep saying things like that, don’t blame her if she doesn’t like you when she grows up.”

Ethan just gave a half-laugh. “She won’t remember. I’ll shower her with compliments in a bit.”

Olivia couldn’t help but laugh.

But as soon as she did, pain shot through her lower belly and she winced, clamping her mouth shut.

Ethan’s tone immediately turned worried. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Olivia said after a moment, looking up at him. “Just… don’t make me laugh, okay? It hurts every time I do.”

The baby was so tiny, all scrunched up and wrinkled—just like Adelina had said, kind of resembling an old man.

“She is a little ugly,” Olivia couldn’t help but whisper.

The nurse caught her words and grinned. “All newborns look like that. Give her a few days. With a mom as pretty as you, she’s bound to be a cutie.”

Ethan’s lips curled into a faint smile.

Olivia’s cheeks flushed red. She’d thought Ethan was out of line for saying it, but here she was, saying the same thing—right in front of the baby, no less.

Thinking fast, she corrected herself, “No, no, I didn’t mean it! You’re adorable, baby, just the cutest little thing.”

The nurse chuckled. “Go ahead, Mom. Hold her tight.”

Under the nurse’s guidance, Olivia managed to cradle her daughter, though she felt terrified she’d break her. Her hands were stiff and her expression a little panicked.

The nurse smiled gently. “First time holding a baby, huh?”
