From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 390

“We have all the evidence we need.”

The officer’s tone brooked no argument.

Daniel Gill narrowed his eyes, but said nothing more.

Mason Bennett was being led out, hands cuffed behind his back. Everyone in the office stared, silent, the tension thick as day-old coffee.

Just as they reached the door, Mason saw a trio of unexpected faces.

He froze, his gaze moving over Olivia Bennett and Damian Franklin, finally landing on Ethan Carter.

“What are you doing here?” Mason demanded. The handcuffs made him sound more sour than usual. Mostly, though, he was just confused.

He hadn’t seen Ethan since the fiasco at the wedding. Every time he’d tried to meet at Carter Enterprises, Ethan had turned him away.

So for all three of them to show up now? It was more than odd.

Ethan looked to the officer, and Olivia nodded politely. “Can we have a moment?”

The officer nodded. “Make it quick.”

Ethan turned to Damian. “Dad.”

Mason blinked. Wait. What?

Did Ethan just call Damian Franklin “Dad”?

Mason stared at Damian, bewildered. “Who...who are you?”

Damian’s eyes were cold and hard. “Damian Franklin,” he replied, voice flat. “But I used to be Carl Bennett.”

Finally, Mason snapped out of it, struggling against the grip on his arms, his voice rising. “No! You’re not Carl Bennett! You can’t be—let me go, I didn’t kill anyone—”

He kept shouting as they dragged him down the hallway, his protests growing fainter with every step. Olivia, Ethan, and Carl didn’t bother listening.

Frankly, every word out of Mason’s mouth made them sick.

The three of them walked into the conference room.

Everyone inside had already stood, greeting them with practiced calm. “Mr. Carter, Mr. Bennett.”

No one looked surprised. Carl had already told them everything over the past few days—about Mason, about what was coming.

So when the police arrived, no one had batted an eye. Mason’s fall was inevitable. The board had already agreed: Carter Enterprises would absorb the Bennett Group into the TQ Group, with Carl at the helm.

Today, Carl had only come to see Mason one last time. He didn’t linger, didn’t waste words. After a few brief greetings, he was ready to leave, the past finally behind him.
