From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 112

Peter dropped his gaze. “I need to think about it.”

Jessie didn’t miss a beat. “Don’t overthink it, Peter. You’re the one who found her brother a bone marrow donor. Once the judge hears about that, it’s clear you weren’t the one who messed up in the marriage. You can list every single thing you’ve done for her family and ask for it back. When it comes to dividing assets, you’ll have the upper hand.”

Peter considered her words and realized she had a point. His eyes brightened. “You’re right, Jessie. Thanks. Could you come with me to the hospital tomorrow?”

Eleanor didn’t have to wait long for Peter’s answer. That night, he called and told her to meet him at the hospital the next day. He’d bring the donor. She felt a surge of confidence. No matter what Peter wanted to talk about, even if he tried to talk circles around her, she was getting the divorce. She was also getting Jared’s bone marrow. Nothing was going to stop her now.

The next morning, Eleanor got to the hospital early. She couldn’t avoid running into her mom, who was dropping off food for Jared. Juliana gave her a frosty look. She was still bitter about Eleanor cutting off her allowance but didn’t dare push her luck.

“Eleanor, did you eat breakfast?” Her tone was stiff.

“I’m not hungry. You eat,” Eleanor replied.

Jared, stubborn as always, tried to give her one of his steamed buns. “Come on, at least have a bite.”

Eleanor smiled and took it from him. The sweet moment between the siblings made Juliana roll her eyes.

“You’re not working today? What are you doing here at the hospital?” her mom asked.

Eleanor didn’t want to get into it. “I took the day off. I have something to do.”

Juliana snorted. “You think you’re still Mrs. Peter Rolland or something? If you keep taking days off, they’ll cut your pay. The hospital has me, so go to work.”

Eleanor was running out of patience. “Peter’s coming soon to talk about Jared’s bone marrow. Mom, I’m not asking you for help. I just need you not to make things harder.”

The moment she mentioned bone marrow, Juliana’s attitude changed. “They found a match?”

Before Eleanor could answer, Peter and Jessie walked in.

Eleanor raised an eyebrow. “Where’s the donor you mentioned?”

Jessie, who had been quiet, put on a concerned face. “Doctor, is the test painful? Maybe I could get tested for Jared, just to see.”

“That’s not necessary,” Eleanor said, shutting her down. The odds of Jessie being a match were basically zero.

But Juliana latched on to the idea. “Ms. Goff, would you really get tested for my son?”

Jessie was caught off guard. “Uh…”

“Please, Ms. Goff. We’ve already tested every family member we could find. The test doesn’t hurt, and it’s quick.”

Jessie glanced at Peter, biting her lip, clearly regretting her earlier bravado. “Well… okay. I guess I can give it a shot.”

“Thank you,” Juliana said, sounding truly grateful.

Eleanor didn’t get why her mom thought Jessie might be a match, but since Juliana was so insistent, she just let it go.
