From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 143

“Third, the plaintiff has lost control of her emotions time and again. She’s yelled at their daughter, refused to visit her for the last two months, and shown she’s not a fit mother. My client asks the court to look into this, award him all marital assets, and grant him full custody of their daughter. The plaintiff should also pay my client ten thousand dollars a month in support.”

Peter stared hard at Eleanor. If she begged for forgiveness now, he might have let her keep some dignity. But her face was so calm, it shook him in ways he couldn’t explain.

Linden waited until the very end to reveal the most important evidence. “Your Honor, members of the court, I have some additional evidence to present.”

“First, this is a photo of Peter kissing Jessie, who he claims is just a friend. Jessie is sitting right there in the gallery.”

Linden pointed straight at Jessie.

Jessie’s face went white. “No, that’s not me. I swear, it’s not.”

The judge rapped his gavel. “Order. If anyone interrupts again, you’ll be asked to leave the courtroom.”

The judge examined the photo, glanced at Jessie, then passed the evidence on to the other two judges.

“Is there any more evidence?” one of them asked.

Linden’s lips curled into a small smile. “There is. This flash drive contains a video of a hidden room in the defendant’s study, a room filled with nothing but photos of the third party—Jessie.”

“There’s also an audio file, a recording of Jessie clearly threatening my client.”

“And about those claims that the defendant helped my client, let’s get the facts straight. My client graduated from a top medical school and worked in clinical drug research. The defendant forced her into a secretarial position just to make space for Jessie, but even then, she didn’t give up. She created a genetics patent and, after leaving the defendant, landed a job at Clarkson Corporation’s R&D department. All I see is the defendant holding her back, not helping her.”

Peter was stunned by how prepared Eleanor and her team were. Even before the verdict was announced, he knew how this was going to end.

Eleanor stayed calm throughout, her lips curving into the faintest smile.

It was the smile of someone who had already won. She’d done it. She’d won beautifully.

“Thank you, Mr. Sidler,” she said quietly.

“But, those bank records... how did you get them?”

Linden gave her a quick wink. “I couldn’t have pulled that off myself. But your boss could.”
