From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 170

A lot of companies here just don’t take things that seriously.

Katie pressed her lips together, clearly unimpressed. “Dad, it’s really not a big deal. I was just joking around with a coworker.”

Max let out a dry laugh. “Funny, is it? Okay, how about you go to work, and I lock you in the storage room overnight? Would you still think it’s funny then?”

“A joke only works if both people are laughing. Do you get that?”

Katie was already annoyed and couldn’t help snapping back. “So what do you want to do, Max?”

“At Clarkson Corporation, we have no room for someone who won’t own up to their mistakes and bullies coworkers just because of their position.”

“It doesn’t matter who that employee is or what issues you have with her. None of that excuses what you did.”

“Tomorrow, HR will send you a termination notice. Katie, you’re fired.”

Katie stared at him, shocked. “Max? You’re really firing me?”

Hunter’s eyes narrowed. He pressed his lips together, but in the end he didn’t say a word. Deep down, he knew Max was right.

Max turned to Hunter. “I’m sorry, Hunter, but I have to do this. When Dad handed the company to me, he gave me full control over people decisions because he knew I could keep my head cool. He hated it when people used family ties to push others around at work. I hope you understand.”

Hunter let out a heavy sigh. He knew he wasn’t as tough as Max. He always let his feelings get in the way. That’s why he never complained when their dad left most of the company to Max.

“I get it.”

Hunter headed upstairs, leaving Katie downstairs to think things over.

Katie felt completely wronged and just didn’t understand.

Was she really the one at fault?

It was just a prank on Eleanor, nothing more.

And for that, she was getting fired?

It felt ridiculous.
